Who can tell me what is so interesting about this lot of tarnish and crud encrusted razors that anybody would want to buy them? Of course, the wonderfully dark picture with the color temperature cranked up really helps.
I see a Barbasol razor and whatever is two places to the right of it is something but I don't know what.
Nice job on picking up the Barbasol -- I didn't catch that at all when I first saw it. As for the BIG one, you guys are red hot.
Well bully on you dog! That is quite the pile of razors! I will send you a Standard 20 bucks right now!
That's the Barbasol that Rob already spotted. That in itself is a good find, but there is something much better there.
Yes, us monkeys are sneaky types. By the way, nice job on the lot with no razors made in England. :happy102 Hey, and now that I look at the picture again, it appears that the topmost razor is a Ranger Tech.
Thanks Twas it you who asked about the made in England? I don't think it is a ranger tech, but its possible. It isn't hard for a SS to appear to have a smooth band with a blurry pic.
That is what I was thinking it was when I was watching the auction. Never pulled the trigger, but just watched from afar...
It wasn't me, but I had a chuckle after looking at the picture and then reading the Q&A. Apparently, the seller didn't even bother to look. There you go. It is a 1918 three-piece with the bulldog handle. Here is another picture that I cleaned up so we can see it better. I have had good luck in the past polishing up heavily tarnished razors, and hopefully this will also turn out nice.
The darkest discoloration and tarnish usually means it is silver plated. A bit of polish and elbow grease and the results can be amazing!! Before and after pics below!
I agree. It seems like the more tarnish they have, the better they clean up. It seems like the tarnish protects the plating. BTW, nice DR there! :happy088
