Anyone notice that Florida Water is made in New York? I always thought that New York moved to Florida for the water, when they retired.

I keep thinking of the Pace Picante sauce commercials. "This stuff is made in New York City!"

    "Get a rope."

Well after waking up feeling meh, a good shave with Arko resets the sanity for the day
No aftershave. Face feel is rather nice but not in the same class as Mamabears or Ogallala Bay Rum still it's cheap and does the job and I don't mind the smell.

Yes I am a heathen and bowl lathers the stuff.

    Funny.

The name Florida Water is an inaccurate translation of the original name for the concoction, "Agua de Florida", or literally "Flower Water". It's in my cabinet. I like it best during the dog days of summer.

Hm. Here, there's Tres Flores. that's about it other than Brut and Aqua Velva.

So, wouldn't it be 'Agua de Flores', not 'Florida'?

"Florida" refers to the same concept as our word flora. It's why the US state was so named, for the lush vegetation the Spaniards encountered in the late 1400s during their initial military incursions into North America proper. The gisted translation in English would be "Flowery Water/Florida Water." Agua de Florida is also the general name for flower blossom scented eau de cologne in Latin America. European style scents are Agua de Colonia or Cologne (Koln) Water.

I see the hair tonic often, but not the AS. Denver has various ethnic enclaves, and even distinct Latin American cultural centers of activity, with many businesses that sell faves from other countries. I often wander these neighborhoods, checking out their shops and goods. I will be on the lookout.

I believe it's an aftershave, as it's right next to the AV and Brut. It's in most of the small grocery stores here.

I'll look again next time I'm there. I may even have a photo around somewhere.

Ok all you Arko experts. I received my first stick of Arko this week. I will be trying it today for the first time. Looking at videos it appears some apply it to the face and then face lather while others load it into the brush and do a bowl lather first. I suspect that applying it to the face directly and doing a face lather is how it was meant to be used. Is that correct?

I prefer to bowl lather it, but that just me. If you do apply it to your face and lather, don't put it on to too heavy otherwise you will be adding water for days and flinging lather all over the bathroom.
