I've read a lot of posts regarding which soaps or creams people think are the worst smelling, but not too many about the ones that folks think smell the best. I realize that a scent preference is an ultra subjective sort of thing, but I am curious to know what soaps and creams people really love to smell. Tell us all which soaps or creams you like sniffing the most. They don't have to be the best performers, just the best smelling. For me, Mama Bear's Toasted Coconut blows every other soap out of the water. I could sit around sniffing it all day long. My favorite cream is eShave White Tea, it's a nice light earthy scent that I wish I could get in a shower soap.
I don't use soaps I don't like the smell of. A few favorites are TSD Cedarwood, English Fern, Vanilla Oak, Interception, and several others. AoS lavender and sandalwood are ones I look forward to. It's funny, but on one day I could tell you that the smell of xyz is just okay, then lather up with it a few days later and it seems to be just the perfect scent for that morning's shave.
Best smelling cream that I have is Proraso Red and best soap is Gingers Garden Sandalwood. I think I must like Sandalwood.
I like generic soap scents. I received a Colgate and a Williams puck in the mail today and spent a few minutes sniffing them. Most of my favorite creams/ soaps conform to this rule. C&E Sweet Almond Oil cream and Sandalwood soap are two notable exceptions.
My favorite soap scents: Calani Classic Havana DR Harris Arlington Kent (MWF) L'Occitane Cade Mystic Water Lily of the Valley, Prospect Creek, Sandalwood, Rosalimone, and others Provence Sante Green Tea RazoRock Boston Tea Party RazoRock Fresco RazoRock Zi Peppino RazoRock XXX Tabac Valobra Lavanda My favorite cream scents: Anthony Logistics (peppermint) AOS Ocean Kelp L'Occitane Cade eShave - White Tea & Lime Verbena TSD Sandalwood Wheat cream T&H Ultimate Comfort T&H Grafton
My fave scents are: Any of the Art of Shaving soaps or creams Rowdy Stickhorse Brush Whacker Shower & Shaving Bar Although nicely scented, the above are not my favorite soaps or creams. The Art of Shaving products are tool expensive. The Rowdy Stickhorse soap was reasonably priced, but was unable to get it to lather well. Of the shaving soaps that work well for me, I like the scent of Mike's Natural soaps the best.
I love TSD Barbershop, not sure what it is about it but it is hands down my favorite scent. I've got it in cream, soap, and aftershave. The English fern is a nice one too, as is TSD Pink Grapefruit.
Same here. There are a few scents that I disliked so much that I had to get rid of after just a few uses (MWF and Kell's Original Black Tea come to mind). Conversely, there are a few soaps that I liked the smell of so much that I just couldn't let them go, even if they didn't perform as well as I would have liked. I also like to combine complimentary scents, like doing a superlather of eShave White Tea and Pre De Provence...that combo performs well and smells amazing. The two scents work so well together that it's as if they were meant to be combined.
The only outright objectionable shave creams I've smelled is Derby Lavender which smells like comet cleanser, and an artisan soft soap in vetiver which smells like wet dirt. I'm not sure which brand the soap was though.
I got the TSD Sandalwood and Pink Grapefruit in my last order and was definitely not disappointed. Two of my favorite scents very nicely done. I do wish the Pink Grapefruit could just be Grapefruit though
I haven't even seen that. Dangit jabberwock. Like I don't already have enough shaving cream. Now there's another one I have to find
I went to Pasteurs pharmacy last week and they had the grapefruit. I didn't like it at all. I can't really explain what it was like, but I thought it smelled bad. The cream itself is wonderful, just like the rest of their selection, but the scent is tough on the nostrils. My 2 scents...(get it? Scents)
Martin de Candre Tabac Sir Irisch Moos Proraso green, red RazoRock Don Marco RazoRock S. Maria Klar Kabinett Pre de Provence Mike's Lime, Pine and Cedarwood, Lemongrass and Eucalyptus, Rose and Cedarwood and Hungarian Lavender If it don't smell good it can't stay in the den, even if it's a great soap. 3/4 of the shaving experience is enjoying the smell when its lathered. If it smells good in the tub but nothing when lathering out it goes.
hmm interesting I never really put much stock into the smell of the soap. Granted, it can't smell like cow droppings but if it smells ok I would use it. I guess I think of it that the smell is gonna be washed away or covered by the AS so why worry too much about it IDK I will have to start smelling my soaps more LOL
Got some T&H No.10 from Mitch and love the scent. I have no idea what, exactly, it smells like....but I like it.
