I have a renewed interest in brushes, and hope that some of you can share your interest as part of this thread. This is a thread where I encourage you to post the "group picture" of your current collection of shave brushes. I have to say that it is always interesting, at times inspirational, and sometimes even humbling to see the shave brushes that others on this forum have acquired, restored, and created for use in their wet shaving routines. I wanted to start this thread to accomplish 2 things. First, to document the current state of my brush collection. Secondly, I thought that it might encourage others to share pics & descriptions of their collections. If a thread like this already exists, I could not find it. Please feel free to direct me to it. Otherwise, feel free to show the depth, breadth, and width of your own brush collection. Here is my modest collection: You can see that these brushes represent a variety of styles, ages (vintage & new) and materials. I have 2 more that are not shown - one Shea Moisture Synthetic, and one unknown (maybe horse hair) brush. Starting on the left: Rubberset #153 - from my Dad - BOAR? - priceless. Marvy #923 - from Sally Beauty Store - BOAR - <$5 Van Der Hagen kit - CVS CLEARANCE - BOAR - $3.50 for the kit (includes bowl & soap) - I have multiples. Burma Shave - from Local Discount Drug Mart - BOAR - <$7 Ever-Ready 200T - unknown purchase (1980's?) - BOAR - $? Shea Moisture Ultimate Shave - Target Clearance - BADGER - $8.99 - I have multiples. Shea Moisture Ultimate Shave - Vitamin Shop - SYNTHETIC - $8.99 (not pictured) Unknown: Distributed by Tri-Coastal Design - Bath & Body LLC - Big Lots Shave Set Clearance - HORSE HAIR? - $3.00 for the kit (includes brush & soap) (not pictured)
I suffer from Brush Fabrication Disorder. I took this picture back in July. I really need to find homes for many of these brushes. If you are interested in adopting a Jayaruh brush drop me a PM. http://jrshaving.blogspot.com/p/jayaruh-brush-adpotions.html You can view all the Jayaruh Brushes by clicking here.

Very nice pictures guys. Thanks! Some mighty fine looking brushes pictured so far. StraightRazorDandy, I like the shape of your brush collection. Thanks. Jayaruh, you have been very productive! You have clearly mastered the art of making the shave brush. Question: How do you find the time to shave? Ha! just kidding. RetLEO, I really like that Navy Tribute brush! Jar, I love that the majority of your brushes are vintage. And yet, they look brand spanking new. That is really cool.
Jayaruh, I forgot to mention. I REALLY like the Cholula brushes. Those are really unique. Do you have any group pics you could share? Thanks!
It's about half & half. Most of the older ones are simply the Spock principle, "Live Long and Accumulate". A few I've bought but many were simply stored away until I found them. Some new ones:
What a wonderful collection of brushes. It tells me that I need to expand from mostly ebay brushes or regular mass produced brushes into something more exciting. That being said, my Frank Shaving brush at the right may be boring. But it has worked extremely well these last 5 years. It has not shed a single hair.
Thanks for sharing, Norseman. Question: Is that brush on the lower right actually a knot mounted on a broomhandle?
Yes it is. I made a thread about it here if you are interested. But the short version is that I had a knot with no handle, until I walked by an old broom and inspiration struck
@Jayaruh, you're slacking; you need to pick up the pace of your collection. You don't have enough to go a full three months before rotation.
This is my collection to date. From left to right; Omega 20106 boar, Whipped Dog High Mountain Badger, Whipped Dog Boar, Whipped Dog Black/White synthetic, TurnNShave Full Moon Synthetic, TurnNShave Angel Synthetic.
