For years and years, Colgate-Palmolive has been producing inexpensive, but very good-quality shaving creams. This company is well known all over North America, Europe, and even Africa, and Asia. They produce several differently-scented creams that are quite interesting. The best known one is the now-discontinued US version, which came in a white and red plastic tube. This cream, which can still be found every so often, has a yellowy-green color, with a somewhat weird, soapy scent, and lathers well, but for me, the skincare is a little less than what it should be. The Classic cream, in the dark green aluminum tube, which is sold all over Europe, has a nice, light green color, a very pleasant scent, it lathers very rich, and creamy, and it soothes the skin, and leaves it smooth, clean, and well-moisturized. The Italian version with menthol, which is probably my favorite, comes in a lighter green aluminum tube, similar to the Classic one, with a light greenish-blue color, a lovely minty scent, the same delightful lather, and a POWERFUL menthol cooling effect, which is enough to leave your skin feeling cool and fresh for a long time after a shave, and it has excellent skincare. There's also a version from Italy without menthol, which is in a red tube, and is exactly the same as the Euro Classic cream. The Palmolive Sensitive version is from Romania, comes in a light blue tube, and contains aloe vera and lathers well, smells nice, but for me anyway, doesn't really do much more than the Classic cream, yet it's still pretty good. Egypt produces a mentholated version of Palmolive in a blue plastic tube, which is a light minty-blue/green color, with excellent lather, and also very, very cooling and fresh, and plenty of skincare, but the scent is quite strong, and not to my liking at all. Last, but not least, is the Indian version of Palmolive with lemon, which comes in a yellow tube, which has a light yellow color, and lemony-scented, rich in lather and generous in skincare. It's amazing how a cheap cream became famous all over the world!
Very nice informative post, Jeff! :happy088 Someone should go find pictures of the different tubes to add to this thread.
Guys, we all know what the US Palmolive cream looks like, but here's a pic anyway. Now, for a pic of the Classic Palmolive Here's how the Italian Mentholated one (my favorite) looks: Check out the Italian Regular version without menthol, and the Indian Lemon creams. Unfortunately, I cannot show the Romanian or Egyptian versions.
A- I have a tube of the Brushless. B- I have a digital camera. C- I have no idea how to get the picture from the camera to the computer, or from the computer to the forum. What do you want from a guy still shaving with a DE Safety Razor:happy102
How can this be? I couldn't find a estra thread for European Palmolive. Just for your attention, fellow Palmolive lovers. Palmolive Germany changed the design of the Classic and the Sensitive version of the SC. Canned cream has also changed, but I don't think this detail will find much attention here The new pictures aren't yet at the webpage. I don't know if only the design has changed or also the formulation because I haven't got one yet. So if you want to have the famous European Palmolive cream with it's known formulation it might perhaps be wise to buy some tubes now.
Ah, thanks for adding those. The Palmolive Cool is absolutely IDENTICAL to the Palmolive Menthol cream which is so known and loved and cherished in Italy, and also Spain. This cream has the same delightful minty scent and great rich lather, and also the same powerful menthol effect. The only real difference is the blue tube which is only 65 ml, whereas the Italian version is in the 100 ml green tube. The Romanian cream is also a light blue in color, and the Italian cream is a light minty-green. The Palmolive Deluxe cream from India has wonderful and soothing lather, so typical of Palmolive creams, but I find the scent not too pleasing to me. Oh, while I think of it, here is a photo of the Egyptian Palmolive Menthol and Egyptian Palmolive Classic versions.
Another Palmolive product This is D'amaris Royal cream, which is made for the Romanian and Moldovan markets. It comes from Colgate-Palmolive, it has a lovely classic scent, super-rich lather, and very soothing and moisturizing skincare.
There's also D'Amaris in a gray/silver tube. Not sure what the difference is between the red and gray ones, if any.
