When I started shaving with a DE back in early 2015 it was hot or warm water all the way. Now I only use hot tap water to make my lather and clean off my razor, brush and bowl afterwards. I’ll also use hot tap water for my scuttle, but only in the colder months. I rinse after all 3 passes + touchup with cold water. It doesn’t matter whether it is summer or winter or anything in between. I find the cold water soothes any irritation and closes weepers before I’m finished shaving. And in the winter the water coming out of the tap is ice cold. Love it. I hope my use of warm water for lather/scuttle and cleanup doesn’t disqualify me for the FWCS.

 

That is fine. For years I would use hot water, but I would finish with a cold water rinse. For the last three years, I only use hot water to clean up my equipment. I lather with cold water. It is no biggy. I even used to use a bowl, but now I only face lather. You may come over sooner or later.

 

Cold water shaver here mostly. I admit that I will bowl lather with hot water during my winter vacations in Tahoe.
