When I started down this wetshaving road I had a goal in mind, to shave with a straight. Once I became proficient with DE's I made the move to straights. The cool factor and the quality of the shaves is impressive. The shaves are without a doubt closer than a shave with a DE in my experience. After one full year of shaving with straight razors I can say with confidence that this is the way for me. There was no epiphany, no message from beyond just a goal accomplished and proud of it. for the record Mike wanted to be like me!!! Raf
Have two Fat Boys... Don't know why I keep them. The quality of the shave isn't near as good as my Merkur Progress. I dust one off every now and then but nearly always return to my Progress after the blade dulls in the Fat Boy. Non adjustable would be my Mercur 38C, then the Merkur HD, then the Merkur Slant... I have "several" other razors (Super Speeds, GEMs, Micromatics, etc) but I would have to say my Merkurs give me the best shave... I even like Merkur Razor Blades... :rofl (It's true) Enjoy your shave...
