and Wild Bill. Here are a few of my badgers that I use regular basis. They run the spectrum in cost and feel. I have them set from left to right by cost and to a degree by feel. The brush on the left cost about 10-12 times of the brush on the right. The other two fall somewhere in between. The second brush from the left I picked up on a really good deal on ebay, normally you would have to expect to pay about twice of what I got it for. The third is a Shavemac pure for around $50. Number 4, unfortunately, I can't remember what it is for sure but it's either a Virginia Sheng or an Ace two band. Three of these brushes have a very distinct feel to them. One and four feel a lot alike, plush but plush differently. The second is a different companies take on a two band (Semogue) , not necessarily better or worse, just different. Number three is a Shavemac pure and a different type of brush all together. Again, I doubt anybody would consider a pure in the same category as the other brushes but it's one I enjoy a lot. With proper use you can get some nice shaves and they're great latherers. I guess the one thing I'd like to point out is that cost and enjoyment doesn't have have to go together. To top it off if I see a boar before the badger brushes the badgers won't see much use. Enjoy your shaving.
Beautiful work Steve. That 4th handle is one I can't stop staring at...simply stunning. Just let me know if it's ever up for adoption...
Yep, that's where the good hair comes from Cosmic Badgers Steve. A matter of fact, Nostradamus predicted................
Excellent work! Despite gravitating towards boar brushes more & more, I do appreciate the plushness of a good badger brush. Those are real beauties, Steve!
You know, I was thinking the same thing. I admire your work, Steve. It must be gratifying to see your brushes in the wild. I like seeing mine show up from time to time.
The Shavemac knot's shape and build really stand out. Regardless of hair grade, it's built to demanding German perfection. Perfectly formed, and not a hair out of place. I love the variety of the four. Each one with its own personality to add variety to the shave.
I'll comment a little later on a few of the finer points of the brushes (IMO anyway). You know for about $55 you could get a 28mm pure bulb from Shavemac. That could be an interesting experiment.
