This all Brass razor was offered via a collaboration between Alpha Shaving & Stubble meets Steel. Alpha offers the kit with both open comb & safety bar base plates with a textured barber pole handle & stand. The result is an amazing looking razor that is quality from craftsmanship to performance. All of this for $88.88 which I consider to be an absolute bargain for what one is getting.

The shave characteristics are quite similar to the Muhle R41 or the Lupo .95 in feel and cutting efficiency however, in my short term experience so far, it is substantially smoother than the R41 and nearly identical to the Lupo with The Guido gaining a slight edge in the smoothness department. It's quite substantial in hand offering a nice balance from top to bottom with the weight bias slightly geared towards the head assembly. The hollowed out handle lends to this feel while also serving as the female end to the male end of the stand fitting into it with minimal movement.

The shaves have been very good to excellent on both efficiency and ease of use with duration of a clean shaven face resulting in nearly 14 hours of whisker free growth.

Very satisfied with this offering from both Stubble meets Steel & Alpha Shaving offering an outstanding razor at an extraordinary affordable price.

    Great shaves to all...

A paste & copy from a write on my shave this morning from another forum...

A very satisfying and extremely smooth shave this morning with The Guido & safety bar variant base plate. I'm in total agreement with a shave brother in the previous post in that the sb is a totally smooth & nearly carefree shaver of it's oc counterpart. 3 excellent passes with no touch-ups or buffing of any kind. Blade feel is very minimal and ease of feel on skin is a couple notches above the oc which is to be expected. It's a true daily shaver performer that doesn't feel anywhere like the comparison between the R41, Lupo .95 in comparing it to The Guido and the open comb shave characteristics. However, the result in finish and end result is very close. I found that The Guido & sb plate is an exceptionally smooth shaver with a neutral shave angle providing excellent feedback in cutting ability with minimal blade feel. I've been leaning more & more towards the smooth, comfortable with minimal blade feel category as of late while still looking for a good compromise in shave performance efficiency a la Ti Diamondback/Copper respectively. The Guido gave me a similar shave experience & result compared to those two, maybe just a touch behind in overall shave feel but, surprisingly close.

Big winner here in The Guido....

One of the best shaves if not The Best shave with The Guido & a Feather installed. The SB guard variant just tames the Feather to near perfection. Minimal blade feel but, very effective on the whiskers and no harsh feeling of the slightest from the venerable Feather blade. Just a stellar combination these two. Efficiency, comfort & smoothness with this pairing is a dream and hangs with the best of them in the mild yet efficient division.
