If you go by the dummies guide here.
    https://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/schick-type-e-injectors-for-dummies.63548/
They didn't start using those cases until the 20 year guarantee on the razors until 1938 and only when they introduced the fixed spring E2 razors. They only dated the 20 year guarantee for the 4th and 5th variants both E2 razors. If the guarantee year is 38 or 39 it will be the 4th variant or first of the 2 fixed spring E2 razors. They either transitioned to the 5th variant in 1940 or 41. So 1940 I can't say for sure. 41 and 42 will be the 5th variant or second of the 2 fixed spring E2 razors. If the guarantee has no date then it is a 42 - 45 and will be a 6th variant or E3 razor.

So I am assuming this E3 would be ok for the case...........[IMG]

As long as the 20 year guarantee if printed on the case doesn't have a date. Then yes if you want it correct down to the details. If not then still yes but it will be a case made for sure prior to the introduction of the E3.

I don't see any 20 year or date printed, maybe it's worn off. Also, could it be that the part of the head where it meets the handle is steel because of the wartime need for brass, just a guess. Just wondering because it's the only Schick E I have that has it.

Possible they only printed to guarantee on the box sometime after 1942. I wouldn't know on the ferule but it is likely. During the wartime they did have a big push especially promoted through the boy scouts to recycle injector keys because they were made of brass.

I have looked at a few modern versions of the 400, finally succumbed to a modestly priced one :-RazoRock Special Edition-Plissoft Black.

English made (?) Sticky. Slight plating loss but ultrafine sanding pads can make a difference shining up scuffy doors.
