The Haul: December 13th - December 19th, 2010

I guess PalmettoB is out and about on the West Coast so I will kick this one off!

Today I snagged a NOS bottle of Avon Wild Country in the barber brush bottle. I am digging these old 1970's flavors.

I also grabbed a Segal O/C. These take special blades that are not available anymore, but it is a cool old razor and I am going to see if halvsie blades will work in it.

I managed to snag another Doehler-Jarvis 3 piece adjustable razor.

 

Scored this Gillette Model 302 red LED watch today. It's from the 1960s I believe. Not as nice as the Gillette Reflex Model 315 red LED watch but definitely deserves a spot in any Gillette collection. And it actually works.

That's neat. The handle resembles another razor that I can't think of the name of right now, that I used to have but the head was much different. Yours looks better.

 

That's a great looking razor! I particularly like the handle...looks great for gripping

Scored this 1940 NEW "Blue-Gold Special" today. Been looking for this set for a long time. Anyone want the mis-matched "Schick Deluxe with Krona edge" blade? :happy102

Very Nice Hauls Gentlemen

My haul below comes with a Christmas story...
Brad from The Copperhat Wet Shave Supply was visiting the USA recently,
checking out antique shops, he came across this 'Tony the Barber' Blade Bank.
For some reason he remembered me bidding on another 'Tony' on eBay and losing...
Well, Being the Gentleman that Brad is, he purchased it , contacted me and pretty much gave it to me at his cost plus shipping.
It arrived yesterday.

Thank you very much Brad, Very thoughtful, you are a gentlemen's gentleman...

 

I picked up this 'Old Spice' 3 peice DE from India as a novelty but it actually delivered a good shave.
It came with 20 'Gillette Wilkinson' ? blades.
Also my supply of Florida Water arrived.
I payed about $25 for a dozen 4oz bottles and whoops they shipped a dozen 7oz bottles.
SWMBO and I are set for FW for a few years!

 

This week's haul...I finally can give up my VDH boar brush, because the girlfriend got me a beautiful badger brush in silvertip from the Golden Nib, even knotted it herself! Very excited to try it out, it's my first badger. Also receiving honorable mention in this haul is an eBayed Wade and Butcher (missing a spine and needing a shine), a tub of Proraso Sensitive, and a shave sampler pack from the Body Shop (also from her, pulling out all the stops this year!).

And yes, I did whip out my manliest background for the occasion.

I dug up my old phone and used it for the pictures, which came out much better and sharper (my new phone would never have been able to focus on the text on the W&B), even though it's just 2MP vs the 3.2MP on my new phone. Just goes to show you, megapixelage alone don't mean crap!

Lastly, thought it would be worth mention that the body shop shave cream is actually really nice. never used their products before and am very pleasantly surprised.

 

That right there means you should keep her!

TBS Maca Root Cream is possibly the best readily available local cream you can buy.

Awhile back, I bought a Progress from PanChango / Dale. Today, I received the Cooncat Bob extension that Xemer was selling the other day.

 

Looks a lot nicer than the standard Progress end.
What is the black coil around the handle ?
Is it a grip you added yourself ?

(The 10-pack "NEW" Gillette Blades are for my minty boxed Gillette Goodwill razor to complete the set. Very very hard to find these in the 10-pack that came with the Goodwill razors.)

 

Those are two 10-packs of #9 rubber O rings rolled onto the handle for extra grip.

Small haul today from the junk shops in Plant City. Picked up a square shank Kaywoodie, I think it is called a Bulldog, and has 5134C stamped on the side. Also grabbed a Made Rite #200 boar brush for re-knotting.
