The backstory: Have a friend at church that has been putting knick-knacky things on ebay, and sharing on facebook what he's selling. Been meaning to talk to him about any vintage shaving stuff he may have, but before I could talk to him, I saw these pop up.
Fortunately, by the time I got to talk to him, the auctions had ended without a bid, so a deal was made :D

Haven't cleaned any of them yet, and the straights need some work, but that will be a task for another day.

Coolest part is, they his dad's and grandfather's gear, so at least he knows they're going to a good home :D

Have away from the forums for a bit. The family had a scare with an apparent attempt at grand theft auto. While away I've picked up a few things non-shaving related and a few things that are.

Shaving wise, I picked up a new strop that is destined for the grab bag, it just didn't quite measure up to my buffalo hide strop from Straight Razor Designs. I also had 2 straight razors re-scaled and honed. One is a 5/8 Boker in Brazilian rosewood , the other is a 5/8 Wade & Butcher in Lignum Vitae. Both were done by Glenn, gssixgun, on srp.

Non-shaving items: 300 sticks of incense. (love my incense when trying to relax) I picked up 100 each of nag champa & opium, 40 each cherry vanilla & vanilla. (if someone could match the scent of cherry vanilla incense in shave soap I'd feel like I'd died and gone to heaven). The last 20 are coco mango.

I think I posted my last two guns, a Winchester model 94 30-30 carbine, which is fixing to be re-glued and have a saddle ring added and the sight switched to a full buckhorn. The other is a Star Firestar Plus 9 mm, which used to belong to my late Uncle.

This is gssixgun's pic. The Lignum Vitae in this pic looks yellow, it actually has a green hue, thus the green spacer.

Finally got a Gillette Sheraton. This was only made in 1937 for Christmas.
A rare open comb TTO. It's a great shaver! Definitely more aggressive than your average superspeed. It may even be more aggressive than the Old and New. I've been wanting one of these for a long time. Got it on the Bay.

    New Kiss My Face Flavor

I found a new flavor from Kiss My Face-Pomegranate/Grapefruit. For $5 I figured, "why not?" It's a wonderful summer scent and like all KMF lathers with ease. It's now my favorite KMF-just a hair above the Cool Mint.

Very nice razor you got there. Nice and looks like whoever had it kept it pretty good quality.

-It was only made in 1938. If you check out the date code page for Gillette it's the only date that the Sheraton is listed.

-Maiden Voyage-it truly gave a unique and outstanding shave. It's had a bit of the primitive and loud shave that an SE has-kind of like driving a stick shift vs. an automatic-an Aristocrat or any other SS would be the automatic.

I agree with your quote since I have the Senator and these siblings were (along with the very early aristocrats) the only Gillette Open Combed TTOs. After 1938 Gillette was moving away from the TTO combs and on the Regent Tech in 1940 moved to the closed comb. The open comb TTOs are like driving with a stick!

This is a very special razor and I know you will enjoy it!:cool:

I never seem to find anything in the antique malls, other than over-priced stuff. Today I stopped in one I've never visited and found a couple things. I found a Seaforth mug in fair condition for $1, an Avon bell, still full for $2 and an Avon Highway King set still in the box for $4. It is a semi truck with the cab full of Wild Country AS and the trailer full of talc. Never opened and smells great. :D

Anthony, I think that the health food store in the Giant plaza across from the fairgrounds has it. They have all the varieties I believe. There is a different health food store out in Aberdeen that has it too but that's a nice little haul just for some KMF. I'm also thinking that Redner's out in Forest hill has also, but again, that's a haul.

I found a little antique shop that had several different unopened decanters full of a few different Avon scents but my purchase that day was my DEcanter :love055. It was empty but that is ok because the only thing I wanted to go in the blue glass was the blue wonder fluid known as AV.

Well, there are two items in play this week.

The first one is a glass bottle of Aqua Velva with 3/4th remaining.
A/V does smell even better when it has had time to decant in glass.
I think I paid around $7.00 with shipping.

The second item is a Montclair badger brush from England.
The loft is small, but soft to the touch and the handle feels like it is filled with lead shot it is so heavy. I think this went for $17.50.
