Oh yeah he did, and he really got some high quality stuff too. I tried out the Jack Black face wash today, it's pretty good stuff. I've been trying to get him to sign up here, but he's not too technologically sound.

Just picked this up at a local antique shop. It appears to never have been used. The woman who owned the store thought it would be a good idea to put the sticker with the $5 price on the top of the head.

I used vegetable oil to get the sticky stuff off it. Doing that revealed the etched Gillette logo. The top of the comb has "pat nos on package". I tried dating it using Mr Razors site, but didn't see anything there with the logo etched on the head.

I also picked up a puck of Williams and classic Old Spice at the local family run non-chain drug store.

In the same antique shop I found this cased Sheraton for $10. It is not in near as good shape as the Tech, but the TTO is smooth. The silo doors open together and it has no bent teeth. The owner says this one belonged to her father. My mom used to set up at the local antique shows selling old paper and knows the woman from there, and I used to work with her son. Her shop was a shambles, but when I asked about razors, she pulled these out in about a minute. She said she might have a straight razor and strop in there somewhere. At these prices I might have to go back to see if she can find them. I'm not into the straights, yet.... but could probably trade or PIF them. The case is in decent shape, but I need to find the correct box of blades to fit into the holder built into the lid. I will be interested to see how this cleans up with some scrubbing bubbles and TLC.

I forgot to mention that she was having a 20% off sale, so it was $12 for the pair.

So I played with an Ebay purchase this weekend. It is a Dixie Master Barber. I removed the blade, polished, and sharpened. I shaved with it tonight. After I did my wtg pass everything seemed ok. Once I started the atg pass I noticed a lot of pulling so I stopped and finished with one of my other razors. Needs a tad bit more honing but it is real close. Will be a good razor to add to my rotation.

Picked up at the local Organics shop a tube of Logona Mann shave cream (used it before, liked it and it will come in handy as I have a trip scheduled for later this month on which I'll use hand luggage only, so lighter and smaller than any of my soaps). Had to try (and get meself a bottle) the Logona Mann after shave, which is very nice indeed. Reminds me a bit of Speick in that is smells clean and crisp, slightly woody but still crisp. Nice. Although pricier than Speick... :(

I got this a few weeks ago now (part of a job lot razor buy, It worked out at about £1) it was pretty rough looking when I got it I tried everything to get it clean (I did not take a before pic as I though it may end up in the bin as cleaning was doing nothing) so today I got the Dremmel out!!
This is a Polish razor Wizamet junior P-1 and weighs a mighty 25.4 grams!!!!! adding a blade will probably double its weight lol
I will be using this when I finnish my night shift in the morning. I have heard they shave very well even though they are poorly finnished

Well, I bought a lightly used bottle of Floid Blue for $42. Hopefully this product works for me, or else someone here will get pretty lucky.

Today I received a package from my good razor buddy and brother from another mother Roger (DEGuy). Roger and I had meet on B&B kind of by chance.

He had posted in the BOTOC thread that he was quitting BOTOC because he was getting a much better shaves with his TECH and with his Progress.

While many others where giving him grief and insisting that he continue to try various open comb razors and blade combinations, I held onto my mantra..."whatever tool works for you use it". I could care less if a person gets a good shave with an open comb or a shard piece of glass. If it works for you, then use it.

Over the next few months Roger and I became very fast friends. We talk numerous times through out the day, we share our live stories and struggles and most importantly we are there for each other. If I find something I think Roger would like I will not even think about it, if I am picking it up for myself, I will pick him up one.

Today's package was a little extra special. Sure the razor, spare Semogue 1438, shaving bowl and One with Nature Olive l with Dead Sea Salt body soap was nice, but the nicest thing about it was it was the accompanying note and the copy of his favorite book.

In today's world real friendships are hard to come by, and whenever a new friendship is made, it is a rare gift.

So thank you you brother, the gifts are much appreciated.

It is The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying, by Sogyal Rinpoche. I love to study various religions and culture and this sounds like a good read. In the foreword to the book, the Dalai Lama says:

In this timely book, Sogyal Rinpoche focuses on how to understand the true meaning of life, how to accept death, and how to help the dying, and the dead...Death and dying provide a meeting point between the Tibetan Buddhist and modern scientific traditions. I believe both have a great deal to contribute to each other on the level of understanding and practical benefit. Sogyal Rinpoche is particularly well placed to facilitate this meeting; having been born and brought up in the Tibetan tradition, he has received instructions from some of our greatest Lamas. Having also benefited from a modern education and lived and worked in the West, he has become well acquainted with Western ways of thought.

My niece got to meet the Dalai Lama when he was going through the Mayo Clinic a few years back. She served him his food several times. She said he's a pretty nice guy. :)

Hi Guys, I haven't been online a lot lately, but I have been busy hitting estate sales and here are the goodies I picked up:

First up I found these at a local antique store
    DSCN0236.JPG
It doesn't show up very well in the pic, but the one on the left says King's Barbicide, so I'm guessing it's the older one.

    DSCN0264.JPG
Next an apparently unused horsehide Permedge double strop that is marked " To be sold only in Rexall Stores"
The leather is a little dry, so I'll be starting a thread to get some advice on that.

    DSCN0242.JPG
The brush on the is a Klenzo and has the same "To be sold only in Rexall Stores" like the strop (hmm I wonder if
they made a Rexall branded razor? Then I could have a set:)) The other brush has no markings, but it is very soft.

    DSCN0248.JPG
    DSCN0249.JPG
I didn't really need this one, since I already have one. However, it is in it's original box and at $7.50 I couldn't pass it up.

And finally I have my first straights:happy093:
    DSCN0256.JPG
This one is a F.A. Clauberg Tonsorial Gem. It's stamped "Made in Germany". The scales aren't wood, but appear
to be plastic and are in great shape.

    DSCN0261.JPG
You can read the case for this one, unlike the other. The scales are celluloid and only have minimal warping.
Both razors have some discoloration on the blades, it should polish out easily and of course they need to be honed.

I'll try not to be such stranger around , but like someone on here once said "Sometimes life gets in the way"

Just received my Vintage Hoffritz Slant - Boy was I speechless after unpacking. That razor's unbelievably gorgeous, the current Merkur Slants don't even get close. It seems to be plated in Nickel or similar, it is not a cold white plating but warmer, and the handle and bottom knob are white(-ish). It basically looks like it comes right out of the box for the first time, just very minor wear shows on the bottom part of the handle.

I will take photographs over the weekend which I'll post next week.

2x Polish vintage shave sticks, 2x Bond Aftershave. And a boxed Russian straight razor that look to be in very nice condition, but the finish is NOT as good as the Wapi I got a few months ago.
