You build a time machine and travel 10,000 years into the future. When you arrive you find that the human race has lost all concept of music. For reasons that should be obvious to anyone with a triple PhD in Quantum Time Physics, you can bring only three audio tracks forward in time with you in your bid to re-awaken in people mankind's most unique form of audible expression. Which three recordings do you choose?
That should open the bidding. I was 12. Will never forget the day I discovered Floyd. That guitar.... Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
Honorable mention for lyrics, especially section two and improv jazz stuff. Lightning in a bottle. Still best American playing guitar 1981-2015 Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
At 2:48 Listen carefully... He steps on the pedal that puts distortion reverb in his Amp.. At 4:00 he's slowly turned down the bridge gain and upped the volume dial on his guitar. Kids... This is you play. Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
Hm. If the concept of music has become that alien to them, there's no telling how they might react to hearing it. They could murder you for introducing this unintelligible, meaningless noise, since you will have no common framework by which to discuss. Would also expect speech would have drifted so far that communication itself is not possible. They'll see you as an unintelligible savage. That said...Cocktails for Two and Der Fuhrer's Face by Spike Jones.
That's an interesting question. I will have to give that some thought, however, my first choice would be, "In The Year 2525", by Zager & Evans!
you know, BigMike, there is also a song titled "10,000 years" (per your question), which is also, one of my, back in the day Favs.
Bjork, Yoko Ono, and Katy Perry. You never said it had to be good music. Serious answer: Pink Floyd (one of the concept albums), anything early Clapton, and something Tommy Dorsey.
Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Green Day Winterborn by Crüxshadows If I'm going to have the only music around, it will have to be something I like listening to over and over.
I say: One classical, one jazz and one Rock tune. But which ones - not easy. 1) Bach something or other or Beethoven's 9th 2) Miles Davis (maybe So What from Kind of Blue) or Dave Brubeck - Take 5 and now the hard part - Rock and Roll 3) Perhaps "A Day in the Life" or maybe "London Calling" too many great choices! PS: the notion of losing all concept of music seems very far-fetched. Music is deeply ingrained in our brains for some reason or other. It seems to be innate. You could posit an apocalypse though in which all historical music is lost.
Cello Suite Prelude by Bach Minor Swing by Django Reinhardt How Soon Is Now? by The Smiths Cool thing about this conundrum is that 10 minutes later I'd come up with an entirely different three songs--and wouldn't even feel weird about it
Dave Brubeck "Take Five" Mozart "Requiem" This piece scares me hopeful it will scare them enough so they won't kill me. Rolling Stones "Sympathy for the Devil"
