I wanted to share some information about a terrific soap I purchased recently. I was browsing the shaving soap category on Esty and discovered the offerings from an artisan named Carrie who runs a small company called the Man Cave. I was intrigued by her products because, being the older guy that I am, I'm a sucker for old-fashioned, traditional smelling soaps and grooming products. I took a flyer on her Gentleman's Tweed shaving soap. Carrie formulates her soaps to order, so you might have to wait a couple of days before she ships it out, but from order to delivery (Washington, PA to near Washington, DC) was four days. Gentleman's Tweed is a 4 oz (113 g) puck contained in a blue plastic jar with a screw-on lid (very reusable, and Carrie sells 2.5 oz refills of her pucks). The puck is a translucent green, reminiscent of other glycerine-based shave soaps. The sensation is immediate, with a traditional aroma accompanied by citrus touches. I worked up a nice solid lather with GT, and found the results to be rich and very lubricating. I got a close to BBS shave with GT on my first use, followed by a subtle aroma that lingers, but doesn't overpower. I've added GT to my soap rotation and hope to try Carrie's other products in the future. She included a chunk of her Mountain Man body soap with my order, and I look forward to test driving that this weekend. She uses her line of scents in multiple products (shave soaps, body soaps, after shaves, etc) so you can create sets of one or more scents. Highly recommended.
