I actually bought this razor for over six months ago but have not gotten to clean it up until this week - and man, it cleaned up beautifully... So, here's just a little bit about the very short lived.... Schick Type F Limited to a production run lasting only an estimated 5-6 months covering the Christmas season of 1940 and into the second quarter of 1941 this is one of the more rare Schick razors around. That also explains the prices these often fetch on the market where an uncased, good condition F can go for $75 and a fully cased F in solid condition can reach close to $200 with the "right" bidders watching. Why this razor only enjoyed such a short production run is not completely clear but the war efforts ramping up around this time and metal becoming a very precious commodity it is likely that the copper, brass and cast alloy razor got pulled from production for that reason. Here is an ad that would had been used around Christmas of 1940: The razor, as can be seen in the ad above, came in a rather unique folding Art Deco inspired case that when opened up provides a convenient 'stand' for the razor. Some photo of my razor with the case below: Opened up the razor sits in it like this: The razor carries two patent numbers on it; - 1806087 (filed already in 1926 by Schick to cover the concept of a repeating razor loading concept) and - 25058633, (filed ten years later in 1936 which carries an extension to the patent of feeding a blade into a razor head through an injector) Due to the all-metal construction of the razor it tends to clean up very, very well. When I received mine it was in a rather dull-looking shape but this week I spent a few minutes going over the razor with some scrubbing bubbles and some Hagerty's on a rag and I was amazed at the shine that was brought back. A 30 seconds video of me fidgeting with my Type F: Some photos of my "F" after a bit of cleaning efforts and some late afternoon CA sun: I'm aware that I'm probably being very biased as I am fortunate to own one (and this is one area where your own personal taste obviously is highly subjective) - but to me the most attractive injector razors ever made is the Schick Type F. So - how does it shave?! Personally I don't know yet..but it's already on the sink ready for tomorrow's shave and I for one can't wait.
