Now only if they were all this good... I wasn't overly keen on the hair bands back when they were popular. I did like a few, such as Def Leppard and Quiet Riot. Seems I like 'em more now - they remind me of my years in Germany.
I had this song played at my wedding reception! and proposed with this one playing in the background:
Week 3, Day 2 Prep: Hot shower, hand strop blade Coffee: Wegmans Traditional, BLACK Tunes: Pandora Shuffle Razor: Merkur 34C Blade: Voskhod, day 2, 3 passes Brush: Redleaf with original badger knot Soap: L'Occitane Cade Post: Cold water rinse, Brut ASB, Brut cologne 'Stache Care: Dirigo Blue 'Stache Stuff, Dirigo Blue Wax My HDs are the only razors that I've found that can take any blade and give you very darn near BBS every time!
I just got a Merkur 43C recently -- I hope it has the same shaving head as my 34C -- they appear identical. I will give it a go either tonight or tomorrow using a Voskhod blade on shave number 3. It's a piece of eye candy IMO, and it weighs a massive 148 grams!
Merkur only makes 3 different heads that adorn all of their razors(modern), all of the various models are just a variation of head and handle: Closed Comb Safety Bar Open Comb Slant bar
Week 3, day 3 Prep: Hot shower, hand strop blade Coffee: Wegmans Traditional, BLACK Tunes: Pandora Shuffle Razor: A1 Blue Tip Blade: Voskhod, day 3, 3 passes Bruash: Vulfix Grosvenor Soap: TSD Egyptian Spice Post: Cold water rinse, Dickenson's WH, Old Spice cologne 'Stache wax: Dirigo Blue Not bad. I've had better, but not bad.
Week 3, Day 4 Prep: Hot shower, hand strop blade Coffee: Wegmans Traditional, BLACK Tunes: Pandora Shuffle Razor: Merkur Travel Razor Blade: Voskhod, day 4, 3 passes Brush: Ever Ready 250PB with original knot Soap: C&E Sandalwood Post: Cold water rinse, Dickenson's WH, Curve 'Stache Care: Dirigo Blue 'Stache Stuff, Dirigo Blue Wax A Darn Fine Shave. Darn near BBS. The first pass was a bit tuggy, but 2 & 3 were like silk.
Swarden I can't decide on a travel razor, I like the looks of that Merkur you have, I am sure it's a good one it's a Merkur, we are going on a trip in June, I could take my EJ 89 but I need an excuse to buy a razor, just like the women say "well I need a new dress I don't have any" Mike
I never have understood the need for a travel razor, other than taking one you don't mind losing if your bag goes missing. I mean, really, how many grams in weight and how many millimeters in length are you saving by not packing a regular razor?
Week 3, Day 5 Prep: Hot shower, hand strop blade Coffee: Wegmans Traditional, BLACK Tunes: Pandora Shuffle Razor: No-date Super Adjustable @9 Blade: Voskhod, day 5, 3 passes Brush: Custom @gssixgun elk antler (see below) Soap: Woods of Windsor Post: Cold water rinse, Dickenson's WH, Sea Forth Heather & Fern talc 'Stache Care: Dirigo Blue 'Stache Stuff, Dirigo Blue Wax Close enough to call BBS.
So now after 3 weeks, half way through your trial what are your impressions ? Are we ready to come to terms on your next blade challenge ? LOL J/K
As I said before, this seems to be a very picky blade. I'm not overly impressed. I'll run the final three weeks with it, then I think I'll try something I just thought of this morning - A week with a Voskhod in an HD. After that, I'll go back and try a Derby in the HD for a week. Truthfully, I hate to think that either blade is really that picky about what razor it's in.
Week 4, Day 1 Prep: Hot shower, hand strop blade Coffee: Wegmans Traditional, BLACK Tunes: Pandora Shuffle - added Asia, Toto, Lover Boy, and Andrae Crouch & The Disciples Razor: H3 Slim @ 6 Blade: Voskhod, day 1, 3 passes Brush: H.I.S. Synthetic Soap: TSD Interception Post: Cold water rinse, Avon Wild Country ASB, Avon Wild Country cologne 'Stache Care: Dirigo Blue 'Stache Stuff, Dirigo Blue Wax A darn good shave.
Week 4, Day 2 Prep: Hot shower, hand strop blade Coffee: Wegmans Traditional, BLACK Tunes: Pandora Shuffle Razor: D1 SS Blade: Voskhod, day 2, 3 passes Brush: Klenzo Nylon D1056 with original nylon knot Soap: TSD Cedarwood Post: Cold water rinse, Dickenson's WH, Jovan Musk cologne 'Stache Care: Dirigo Blue 'Stache Stuff, Dirigo Blue Wax While darn near BBS, I just feel I'm getting as comfortable a shave as I do with Astra SPs, unless I'm using one of my Merkur HDs.
Other way around. Seems it doesn't matter what blade I pop into an HD, I get very close, comfortable shaves.
