So I have been thinking of getting Taylor of Old Bond Street Lavender and Rose creams (my favorite scents) and noticed that they weren't quite as expensive as most creams. Are they high quality? How are the scents. I prefer a strong scent as part of the experience.

A while back I got a sample of one of their other creams but it was almost as hard as a soap?

TOBS rose is my favorite cream period. For me the scent is perfect.l Nice and heavy for the shave but does not linger to mess with the AS. I love that rose.

I got those exactly 2 a couple of weeks ago. I like them both, although not as much as my beloved Avocado, and the lavender scent is quite strong!! But TOBS I think are always a good option for the money, and they lather very well...

  4. Hiya,

My buddy Brian sent me a few samples of some TOBS creams a while back, and the stuff performs really well. I've tried a bunch of different rose scented soap/creams in the past, and the TOBS version is excellent. A medium scented product(not sweet) that I actually prefer over the QED 'Wild Rose'.

    Well worth trying,

What color are the Rose/Lavender creams? What are their textures (hard or soft)?

I just used Taylor's Lavender this morning and is one of my favorites. The cream is pretty dense, but it's soft enough that all you have to do is dip your brush in the tub to pick up enough cream for a shave. It's a light purple color.

    TOBS creams

I have been using the TOBS Sandalwood and IMHO is one of the best creams in my shave den. It lathers quick and the scent is pleasing. I will recomend it to anyone.

Both of those are great scents and a great value. That said, never overlook the Avocado! ;)

TOBS creams are excellent. I have both the Mr. Taylor and the Avocado and both give superb shaves. I'm considering the Lavender.

The creams from the 3 T's (Taylor's, Trumper's, and Truefitt & Hill) are all now made by Creighton's and are very similar. More recently, Real Shave Co. is also made at Creighton's. All these will be quality creams with some minor differences in performance and the biggest difference in scent. Creighton creams aren't my favorites, but all are good.

I'm just torn between TOBS creams and MWF soap, not sure which will perform better.

Is it stronger than the Rose?

They're as different as two lathering things can get. One isn't necessarily better than the other. With soaps and creams you have to try them yourself to judge.

I haven't tried Lavender or Rose, but I'm currently using the Eton College scented cream. I'm not crazy about the way it smells, vaguely medicinal, but the lather is incredible, long lasting, and hydrating. I like the kind of spicy woody aroma, so Sandalwood is next on the list. And some soap from TSD of course. Must try that.

Another vote here for both for Rose and Avocado shaving creams by Taylor of old bond street. Nice options to have in my rotation and they give a very good quality shave.

I would say that the lavender is a bit stronger scented than the rose.
