Thoughts on Ivory Soap?

Having never tried this bar soap before, I bought some the other because Jeff mentioned it and I like Frosty Minks' taste.

Well, I have to say it actually IS a very good soap, esp. for the money. Far better than Irish Spring and many others. Smells reminiscent of Williams SS, which I always hated, so I'll to smell the latter again and see if I still hate it or if I'm wrong about the similarity.

Farha also loves this soap because it takes her makeup off very, very well.

Its major losing point is that it doesn't lather well at all.

Consequently it'll be reserved for Farha's face and hand washing in this abode, humble.

What do you guys think of Ivory? I've always heard it's horrid but I was pleasantly surprised. Has it undergone a recent change in its formula.

The bar looks nice and I love the packaging. Price is a laugh.

Before we started using pump soaps, we used ivory. I still buy a bar now and then. The scent is neutral and not over powering. We have members of the extended family that have soap sensitivity issues and we can only use certain soaps and detergents. Ivory is bland enough that it doesn't affect anyone so that is what we kept in stock.

Weird. I find the scent pretty strong. But it is a barebones soap on the whole. Simple fragrance, no color.

Lathers poorly - that's its only flaw! Shame.

Kaveh, as I say, Ivory is my main and big soap choice for bathing and washing. Corinne will not be bothered, because she has wealths of her own and personal soaps, bath oils, this, that, and other thing. I used Ivory one time in a shave, and it gave me enough lather for the shave job, and I was happy. But for a bath or shower, Ivory is good.

OK, when you first open it, it does smell strong, but it blends in well and fades. Its been a while since I had any open. I suppose there is a bar in the camper, but I am not going to go pop it up to refresh my memmory on the smell. :happy102

Ivory is the best soap for me. I love it...including the scent. If you find you like it, Arko shave sticks have the same scent to me. It's great...

Ahhhhhh? You find Ivory soap and the Arko stick is smell the same? Maybe a little, yes? But Arko is nicer! :D

I do agree with you, Jeff...Arko is. But very similar to my idea. The Arko is a stronger scent.

I have Ivory original - blue writing on white label. Maybe the green-lettered aloe smells different - like ARKO.

This soap I have is excellent and upon smelling it I found it smelled like Williams, whose scent I didn't like. But I just smelled some Williams while shopping today and like it now haha.

Still the Ivory I have smells nothing like Arko, which smells better than Ivory and Williams.

It must be your water.. us ole country boys have used Ivory for years. It lathers just fine for me . I know that different water types can effect the lather. It is plan and simple and just works.

I do not think that bar soap breeds bacteria , I thought that soaps were made to kill germs and such. Very acetic I could be wrong of course..and maybe I just want to argue with Jay since we have agreed on too many things lately.:D

I love Ivory, but the bars just don't seem to last as long as I would like.:(

Ivory Soap.....an accident in a soap factory that led to a product that has stood the test of time. Smells decent, can use it on baby's butt, it floats, it works, what's not to like!

Bar soap is a bacteria breeding ground :happy102 funniest thing I heard all day!

Is it still 99 44/100 % pure? So few things are these days.

Are you realy willing to pay additional for a brand name of soap? I'm not at all. My Mrs swears by Dove, then I did a test: I went out and got a bar of CVS soap, and put it in the shower and told her that it was her Dove. She did not complain and a month later thought it was dove in there and was shocked to find it was not. As for me there is not one penny worth of difference among the soaps.

    Dove isn't soap.

What do your Ivory bars smell like? Mine are decidedly lemon-lime and close to Williams in scent.

I love the packaging and what's written on it.

Every other soap I use in the shower just combusts while this one requires a lot of rubbing to get serious lather...
