This is a tough one. Narrowing it down to three... ikon shavecraft 101 Barrister & Mann soap A scuttle Here are some things already in the works that I took off my list: Razorock soap, Petal Pusher Fancies soap, open comb razor, shaving yeti soap Happy New Year!
Gem mmoc coming your way buddy. As for me, 1 thing for sure, a must! I will obtain an adjustable Gillette. 2 and 3 would like to try a scuttle and a muhle 41 (old style)
OK Martin De Candre (after I win the Lottery) Gillette NEW Short Comb Gen 4 Synthetic Brush-Muhle, Simpson (may be out in 2014?)
Gary-I need to place an order with Shaveabuck.com anyway. I'll just add a tube of Barbon Cream to my order and mail you my partial tube tomorrow to try. Now you are going to be down to one! You may need a new list one week into the year!
Thanks for the offer ... however, I got a tube of Barbon in the mail right before Christmas so it is in the house and is soon to be used. When I get through using the HTGAM products that have come in, then I will try the Barbon.
1. RazorRock Soap 2. How To Grow a Mustache Soap 3. A Big old boar brush So 2 down, 1 to go. Sensitive skin RazoRock soap was incredible, used it yesterday fro the first time, great results. HTGAM soap was ok. Got a good practice later with it. On my actual shave test I made the lather a bit on the dry side which resulted in a rougher first pass. Going to give it another go around soon. Improving my soap lathering skills is my 2014 goal. #3: Scott Pav told me my custom 27mm boar is on its way to me which looks wonderful in the pictures. So I should accomplish my years list by the end of week 1 2014. My 1 man shaving operation is running at nearly 100% efficiency.
HTGAM is a soap that requires a little more water due to some of the ingredients used, but once you find the correct mix ... it is great.
Yeah I've heard only good things and saw all you guys around here using it in your SOTD pictures. The cavendish smells great, just have to get rid of the user error. Thanks for the tip, will put it to use tomorrow for sure.
I have been reading some of Douglas' posts about the soap over on wicked_edge about the fact that it needs more water to make it effective.
I would like to try: 1) Cella 2) Any Mike's soap 3) Palmolive I've heard great things about all of those, so they are sure to get a try this year.
1. A BIG soap eating badger brush for face lathering. My only badger is an 18mm TGN finest. Great brush, but I want to try a bigger one. I'm thinking about a 24mm TGN finest. 2. Personna 74 blade 3. Straight razor - I have 4 of them. Three I bought at antique stores and one on a forum BST. It was sold as shave ready but the tugging I felt with a couple passes let me to believe otherwise. I need to find someone who knows what they're doing to hone one or two for me.
Here's what's on my wish list: 1) Krampert's Finest Frostbite 2) Stirling Frozen Tundra soap 3) Stirling Black Ice soap There are actually more, but I'll keep it to just three for now.
