Completing JWest and variety week. Next week I will decide and reveal the next 3017. For Friday I went an unusal JWest razor, This Atlas is a 7/8 near wedge. Most JWest razors I have seen are full hollow grinds. Also to celebrate Friday and ebonite Shavemac brush which did a job on the MdC brain bowl. Next time I buy MdC soap, maybe 10 years from now I will go with the tub instead of the messy but cool looking brain bowl. Tabarome Missésime for some nice spring weather. Saturday is a cool cloudy day so a nice time to wear the Tauer L'Air du Désert Marocain, that is a mouthful. I do enjoy the Tabula Rasa so given the scent it is prime candidate for the next 3017. Not in the mood for a straight razor shave today so went with my Asylum Rx with a Feather Pro. Somehow the brush did not make the picture.
Memorial Day, 2025 Figaro Sapone Speciale~~dubl duck #2~~Wolfman WR1/Wizamet~~Vintage Old Spice Lime Here is the next 3017. This shave soap is the original P.160. It is rock-hard and I expect it to last quite a while, but... that's the point of a 3017, is it not?
It was a busy week, time to catch up. I selected the PAA Awesome Sauce for the next 3017. This one is a joy all around, lather quality and scent. First shave of the this 3017 I brought out the big guns (for DE) my 2013 R41 loaded with a Super Iridium. To make it extra special I went with the shockingly priced Roja Dove Vetiver and something fancy for my wrist. Shave 2, Portland Razor Co kami, Thätrer brush and vintage Brut. I am hooked on the vintage Brut. Watch of the day is special one, a good friend sold me this rare unobtanium watch.
Thursday, May 29 Figaro Sapone Speciale~~Paladin PK-47~~Wolfman WR1~~Amouage Gold Feels good to be back on the 3017 train. Picked up this gorgeous Paladin. It had never seen water... That changed in a hurry. I don't believe in shave trophies. Kansas City London...as far as I know, this was when Ken was still collaborating with Lee Sabini.
Wednesday shave was with my 'prison shank razor'. Unfortunately it bit me, not fond of the square points but this one does take a nice edge and looks cool. Low budget shave for Thursday, Omega Pro, Mr Blass and a R41 knock-off on a crazy brass handle. Low budget yes but a great shave.
Sunday, June 1 Figaro Sapone Speciale~~Hoffritz 19mm~~Wolfman WR1 Stickin' with the game plan. Even the diminutive Hoffritz created a substantial amount of goo.
Friday I needed a quick shave so load my Tuxedo Joris with a Super Iridium. The Simpson Duke 3 was my first nice brush, the beginning of the brush troubles,i.e. they multiplied. AdP colonia for warm day and off to my one day a week at the office. Sunday I went with a heavy weight, this Silverloaf 8/8 is just 1/4 hollow and is heafty. I forgot just how good Poraso in the tube is, wonderful for a warm day. The stand du jour is MDCI Le Barbier de Tanger, nice but... no where near as nice as Invasion Barbare.
Monday, June 2 Figaro Sapone Speciale~~Semogue TSN Final Edition 1/50~~Cooper Monobilt/Gillette Silver Blue What a terrific razor, the Monobilt is. Brilliant design and a formidable tool.
I wanted to look and feel good as went to vote, I had a bad feeling about the result... At least the day started well. The steel of choice was a Snail Forge Wootz steel with mamoth tusk scales. The Awesome Sauce, is well awesome. I wanted to time how long the wait was at the polling station but there was not wait as I went in the afternoon. Early start to a busy day so I went with my Rochelle-G, always a quick and exellent shave. Heading into the office for some meetings so I needed some sophistication, Creed Tabarome and jumping hour from Fears.
