Well, for starters, I don't shave at night all that often. I hate doing showerless prep, so I typically do it in the mornings. However, I was feeling kind of crummy tonight, so I thought a hot shower and a good shave would be just the thing for it. My lather was nothing short of epic. I tried my new acquisition, P.160 tipo morbido, with a dose of menthol and eucalyptus from C.O. Bigelow. After brushing on a thick layer with my C&E Super, it was go time. I shave almost exclusively with a GEM micromatic open-comb. It's been 4 months since I shaved with a double edge razor. At the moment, though, I have a 40s aristocrat on loan to me, so I gave that a shot. It was very different from my usual shave; There was less physical response, less audio response, and less of a blade sensation. It was almost as though the razor was empty. The end result was quite good in 2 passes with a cleanup, though not as good as my usual 2-pass with a micromatic. The aristocrat was still a nice change, as it is a far sight more beautiful and elegant than the micromatic. I finished it up with a splash of Thayer's, an even bigger splash of Royall bay Rhum, and a dose of Neutrogena moisturizing face lotion. My face is very, very happy indeed, and it had me in right good shape. So what's with all the frill involved in this night's shave? Today (the 15th) marks six months from my first wetshave. All I had to start out with was a puck of C&E nomad, a Col. Conk pure badger brush, a futur, and a pack of merkur blades. My shave den certainly has grown over time I've spent about half of that on the Shave Den, and it's been a pleasure. Thank you all for saving my neck from the toils of razor burn!
Thanks for sharing your story, I'm glad wetshaving is working out for you. Here is to many more great shaves to come! :eatdrink047
Congrats on your 6 months anniversary. I agree there is nothing like a good shave to pull me out of a funk. Shave well my friend!
Congrats! That's quite a starter kit you started out with, let me tell ya! Here I am with my disposables and VDH brush and soap...
Congrats... :happy108 I shave every evening before going to bed. I have to get up at the butt crack of dawn and don't have time to give myself a quality shave and my evening shave lasts almost till the end of my work day. Plus I get to relax and have an enjoyable shave without having to rush off to work. Works for me. v/r Oscar
