A little while back I came up with the idea of a compact shave stick for a travel kit. I used VDH glycerin because it is easy to work with and gives good shaves for me. I cleaned out a chapstick tube and after melting the soap filled it back up. Today was my 4th use of it I think. Works great. Todays travel kit shave. The video of the shave if anyone wants to see it in action.
Jim, since you have kids take a look in the craft drawer for some of the jumbo sized glue sticks. I've nabbed a couple of nearly empty tubes from my wife's scrapbooking supplies but have yet to fill one up. They look like this. Sent from my Galaxy using Tapatalk
When I travel there is usually a cake of williams along... Ever heard of " The Brick?" Thanks guys. @Linuxguile I used the chapstick to be very compact. Those glue containers would work good too. Help yourself.
https://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/shave-sticking-it-diy-shave-sticks-and-other-stickisms.29016/ I've done something similar. Chapstick tubes work better.
The only vdh i have tried or seen is luxury, i usually have a few on hand for when i convert friends and family, they make a good starter soap. I hear good things from users of deluxe, ill probably toss one in the cart next time i buy something from amazon.
Cleaned out the glue stick tube this morning. These hold 1.4oz so my sample of Stirling Electric Sheep for nicely! Sent from my Galaxy using Tapatalk
That is cute, Fuzzy. I did the same thing with an old ArmandHammer deoderant stick holder. Cleaned it out and poured some Colonel Conk in it. Works great.
I've been wanting to do something like this for a while. And after going through this thread, the post from @Linuxguile got me thinking. I looked in my parts drawer and found a glue stick about 3.5" in length. So, out went the glue and I then removed the label. Grabbed my extra Palmolive shave stick and used my cheese grater to shred the soap. And the result is a nice travel soap stick.........
