Just got a shipment in today from tryablade.com and I am going to be documenting my experience with each blade for my personal use but thought I'd share it here. I know it is all very dependant on the individual but figured I would still do so.
A little background on me: I just started DE shaving last week. Currently using a WEISHI 9306c long handle, and have been using VDH Luxery soap. I started using the blades that came with the razor but they were terrible (at least for my current technique level) then I got some Gillette silver blues and I like them but still wanted to try other options. I also have very very very sensitive skin so if someone else out there has extremely sensitive skin this could be useful. [IMG] here's what I got in

    Derby Extra:
Not a very smooth blade, which my skin was not a fan of, and left my skin irritated, so had to cut the shave short which lead to a not so close shave.

    Asco Super Stainless
1st shave: Great sharp and smooth blade that was gentle on my sensitive skin. (12-25-15)
2nd shave: Blade felt sharp and smooth yet again. Could possibly get a 3rd shave from it but I'll just move on to the next. 12-26-15)

    Lord Platinum:
Definitely great and sharp blades, but had some shaving mishaps today, going to refine my technique

    Rockwell Razors:

    Personna Lab Blue:

    BIC Chrome Platinum:

    7am Plus:

    Lord Super Stainless:

    Big Ben Super Stainless:

    Centwin Super Platinum:

    Gentle MAN Platinum:

    Elios Inoxidable:

    Astra Superior Platinum:

    Cloud:

    Gillette 7 O'clock Sharp Edge:

    Voskhod BocXOII:

    Astra Superior Stainless:

    Super Iridium Extra Stainless:

    Personna Platinum:

    Feather:

Let me know of any suggestions and feedback or questions. Thanks for everyone in this awesome forum

I am in the same boat as you @whiteboy_cannon. I bought 30 blades from Try A Blade and then received an extra 10-pack plus two more blades for free. I bought two or three of several different brands. I also have some other brands from an Amazon sampler. I hope to work through them and find the ones that work best for me. Good luck!

Several examples of blades that are popular around these parts in your sampler. Of course, 'popular around these parts' doesn't mean they'll work best for you. You have a wide variety there; here's hoping you find your 'go-to' blade in your sampler! Keep us posted!

Just finished my first shave with the Derby Extras (just going to go in the order that they are listed above. First Impression is that they are not as sharp as the Gillette Silver Blues (the blades I have been using thus far) and also not as smooth. The sharpness is not too big of a deal for me, my facial hair is not the roughest around, but how smoothly the blade glides across the skin is very important due to my sensitive skin. My skin is feeling very irritated at the moment, not really razor burn but my skin feels uncomfortable and a little beat up. First impression is that these are a no go for me, but will shave with these blades again later on to make sure it is not just my shaving technique or if it is actually the blades.
    Setup for this shave
    Razor: Weishi 9306c long handle
    Soap: Van Der Hagen luxery
Astringent: just some basic witch hazel
Post Shave: Nivea Sensitive Post Shave Balm
    - I ordered a "better" soap today (Proraso Eucalyptus/Menthol Soap) so when that comes in I will use that as my standard (and every blade used before that will get used again with the new soap)
Thanks for following me as I find the right blade for this sensitive extra white skin

I ended up with the tryablade everything sampler. I've hardly scratched the surface so far and I've been at it for 5 months.

Off to a good start! Note that, for some blades and some folks' experience, the second shave with a particular blade (not just blade brand) is the true indicator of whether that blade works well for them; others, of course, take the position that putting up with any mediocre shaves from a given blade (not just blade brand) is not something they're willing to tolerate.

Yeah the way the Shave was feeling at the end was that another Shave was not going to happen

Asco Super Stainless, shave #1: Out of all the blades I'll be trying this is one of the few that I have not heard much about so if someone who uses them could chime in it would be much appreciated.

Definitely a smooth blade. Felt good on my skin with essentially no pulling. Felt sharp for the entire shave and will for sure get another shave with it and hopefully a third. I did have one knick on my chin but pretty sure that was technique related. Had only a small amount of irritation on my neck around my Adams apple which may also my technique related. In conclusion, these are great blades that played well with my sensitive skin.

I used T.A.B. to vet numerious blades but found that I could not remember the test results. So then I had to go to "Try A Journal".

2nd shave with the Asco Super Stainless went great again. No complaints at all. May be a contender for what I end up using most often

It's more about blade angle and pressure than particular blade brand. As you gain more experience, the choice in blade will matter less and less. What you are describing with the Derby is actually sharpness. Derby is exceedingly smooth, but not sharp enough to perform far a new shaver easily. I've put 20 consecutive shaves on a Derby before with no issues! At this point in your development, as soon as you find a blade that's not tearing you up, stick with it for a month. Asco is a much sharper blade than Derby, and that's why you're liking it better so far. Good luck on the search!

Your irritation is likely caused by a blade angle that's too high, causing the blade to scrape skinrather than cut smoothly. Be sure that the doors of the razor stay on your skin as you shave, this will keep the blade angle low, like 15-20 degrees, and will improve the glide quality, and may reduce irritation.

Thanks for the tip, will definitely do so. My technique gets better with every shave. Which is why I plan to revisit some blades when I'm better at shaving
