About 1982, I was in the Navy, I acquired a cheap DE razor. I tried it, liked it and thought I was tough. That was short lived. I really didn't know what I was doing and didn't have anyone to ask. However, I've always liked making lather with shaving soap and a brush. I really didn't know what I was doing either, but I was able to some good lather out of the mug. I dropped my first shaving mug on the ship and the ugly green tile did nothing to cushion it against the steel deck beneath. The Sweepers were still finding pieces 3 days later. It seemed the only time you would see the shaving soap kits was around Christmas. So about 2 years ago, I found an old gift, that I started using. I enjoyed it for a year or so when the brush started losing bristles. Now, between Amazon & eBay, it was easy to find shaving brushes. I also bought a Cheap DE razor (mistake), blades, bowls, soap, etc... Then I stated watching some videos and realized that I would get a better shave with a better razor. Now I'm hooked.

Welcome @MrCarl1960 from here in western NY. Glad you decided to join us here at TSD. Just a thought many great razors such as Techs, Flares and Kronas can be had for very little money and offer great shaves!
Glad to have you here. As a retired Army Warrant Officer, I appreciate your time in the Navy. I look forward to reading your posts. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
