I watched a You Tube shave video of a Turkish style shave. After the razor work was done the barber took what looked like heavy dental floss and proceeded to pull it against the customers face multiple times. What is that all about? He also used a burning wick of some sort to remove ear hair I think.

Its the same way they do Eyebrows and whatnot. String or floss, ran between fingers and it plucks out hair very close. I believe it is refereed to as threading in alot of places, and comes from the Middle east/Far East usually found in Persian and Indian Salons around my parts..

I experienced it as well. It can be a bit painful, but it works very well.

    Threading

My little sisters get this done quite regularly on their eyebrows.

The thread is looped between two fingers and then twisted. A quick motion of loosening the twists to let some hairs in, tightening to grab, and then pulling to pluck removes the hair quickly and from what i hear pretty painlessly.

The sisters say it is faster then getting the eyebrows plucked, and hurts less then waxing.

Watching the girls who do this technique, and are very good at it can be amazing, they have such speed, but still with pinpoint accuracy.

I notice kiosks that do this starting to pop up in the malls around here.

Would I ever succumb to a shave done this way? Not on your life!

Yeah they are in all the malls here in Vegas too. Not just Kiosks, but full blown stores.

I don't think it would be fun for a full shave, but for a "cleanup the edges job", I might give it a try.
