Van Der Hagen Scented Luxury Soap

  1. What a great shave soap VDH has come out with. It lathered very quickly, producing a VERY slick, protective and thick lather. If you're thinking this is just like their regular soaps, you will be pleasantly surprised. It shaves totally different that their regular offerings. Some of the new ingredients listed are: shear butter, mango butter, and cocoa butter. It seems that these ingredients have much to do with how slick the lather is. The unscented version has the exact same ingredients, minus the fragrance.

The Luxury Soap's packaging is well done, masculine, and sports their new windmill logo, as does the cake of soap itself. The box front and back is colored, making it a nice attention grabber. This new soap is affordable, yet is slightly higher than the price of their regular versions, and for good reason.

The scent is lightly masculine, with a hint of cucumber... very relaxing scent, almost 'spring-time-ish'.

The soap really performs! My Merkur 1904 with a Derby Extra blade, glided across my face perfectly. I made the lather with no additional additives (glycerin, etc..), but the lather shaved as though I had.

It left my face nicely moisturized and fresh feeling. It's taken Van Der Hagen quite a few years to upscale their existing line, and this new Luxury Shave Soap was worth the wait.
