VDH Deluxe soaps being replaced by VDH Luxury?

VDH Deluxe soap is my go-to at the moment but I've noticed that store shelves in my area of north Florida now only carry the VDH Luxury (at least I think that's what the model is). I've looked in every grocery and drug store that I frequent and no Deluxe to be found. Looks like a corporate decision. Thoughts?

 

I've noticed that too, and the deluxe smells really good. I still have half a puck or so left of it.

 

They did revamp the marketing. They may be phasing the deluxe out?

 

I'm going to miss it if they did.

 

I've been noticing this for a while now. Also the Luxury costs at least a few bucks more so that may be why the stores are doing it. More profit from same shelf space always wins. The only place I still see the deluxe on shelves is at the Air Force Base Exchange. Last I looked it will still like $1.59 there too.

 

Yup. WalMart has dropped the deluxe for the luxury 'round here. I have about 9 pucks of the deluxe in reserve, but I do like the luxury.

 

Are they the same soap but repackaged? If not what differences have you found?

 

Around here I never see the luxury, only the deluxe. Of course us Michiganders are usually on the back slopes of the rest of the country....

 

The scents are different. I like the deluxe scent better. Performance seems pretty close to the same for me.

 

I have three pucks of the deluxe, plus one in my shave bowl. It's the best $3.99 you can spend on shaving supplies. I would hate to see it go.

 

I've used both deluxe & luxury recently. I can make them work.
My newbie soaps, hardly used now that I've discovered tallow.
I haven't, but heard the unscented luxury and E.O. microwave well.

 

Maybe I did right when I stocked up on them.

 

Different soaps, different scent, same great lather and performance.

 

I thought the deluxe was the most popular, one would think they would keep that one in stock.. Ohh, the greed

 

I just used VDH deluxe soap this morning and got a nice slick lather out of it. I will hate to see it go.

 

Oops! I take back everything I've said! I just checked my den and I actually have 4 unused pucks of VDH and they're all of the LUXURY variety.

Oh well, I do like their luxury soap and I hope they keep making that too!

 

I just picked 12 pucks of VDH at amazon.

 

....damned shavepocalyptic development. I will miss the scent.

 

Different soap: different (upgraded) ingredient mix and a more expensive scent profile. The Luxury line works better for me in my hard water, that's for sure. VDH still offers the Deluxe soap (as well as Glycerin and--blech!--"Select") but some retailers are requesting the Luxury line because they sell better.

 

My wife is picking up a puck of the Luxury line today so I'll know in the next few days if I like it. However, being new to the forum I've just learned of TSD shop. Soap prices look very reasonable so I'm sure I'll give them a try too.
