I haven't done too much in the way of blade comparisons yet, but as I work through what I have tried from my sample pack (Gillette 7 O'Clock stainless, Derby, Shark, and the Vidyut), I am really impressed with these Vidyut blades. I've been evaluating them all in my Parker 99R, same soap, same prep, and they seem to provide a great combination of smoothness/comfort and sharpness. Though they don't seem as readily available as some other brands, I've seen them for about $17.50 per 100 blades.
The Supermax Super Platinums are my favorite blades! Razorblades and more sell the for $10.50 for 100...http://www.razorbladesandmore.com/content/100-supermax-super-platinum-double-edged-blades I like them better than the Personna labs, the Crystal and the Gillette blacks
They have become my favorite blade as well, Bluesbishop had sent me a few and I bought 100 becaused I loved them so much. No tugging, very smooth, nice sharpness.
I know where I'll be getting my next batch. Thanks for the info/source. It might be awhile though. I just bought 200 (for $32.50 shipped).
In my experience, the SuperMax Super Platinums are great blades and have given fine results in both the Merker 34C and Edwin Jagger DE89L.
I have tried them in everyone of my razors...a small collection, but great results in everyone...including a 30's short comb New, a 40's NDC SS, 46 Aristocrat, 54 Tech, 55 Aristocrat, 57 Flare Tip, 61 Fatboy, 65 Slim, EJ89.....perfect in them all, but REALLY love it in the NEW and my Slim
I just tried my first one. I know, you shouldn't make conclusions based on a 1st shave but this much was clear - it felt identical to a Voshkod, which I also recently just tried, and nicked me about as much (which wasn't a lot). They felt more alike than any other two blades I can recall trying.
