I was wondering if anyone here has used a Vie Long horse hair brush? What is the quality of these brushes, how does it lather? Any other thoughts also would be helpful.
    Merry Christmas

Vie Long is probably the premiere manufacturer of horse hair brushes. I have several and find them to be extremely good quality. They perform very well as they have the backbone of boar and usually the softness of badger depending on the tail/main ratio

    thevez2 uses Gillette's new Tarantula Razor - 8 blades!!

My Vie Long has no backbone. It is super floppy. Makes a great cream brush though.

I should be receiving my Vie-Long 13061 "Zurito" on Tuesday. Phil told me that I'd have to wait until Tuesday because Monday is a postal holiday. And here I thought it was really the United States Phil Service. I guess I can wait an extra day, but so will y'all before I can tell you anything about what I think about this brush.

Vie Longs are awesome. But I've found that the style of the hair can make a big difference in the brush. What I've noticed is:
*The natural brown, is a little prickly at first but will break in nice and soft with good backbone.
*The dyed 2 band hair, eg 13061, is really soft but is a little floppy.
*The plain dyed hair, is soft out of the box and has decent backbone.
I would think that the plain dyed hair would be favorable to most shavers, but my preference is the natural brown.

I also find them to be excellent. Just got a new one and am thrilled. I had never realised that the white ones are generally dyed. Vie-Longs are not. That's gotta be good I suppose. Can't praise these brushes any more highly.
