How can I tell the hair type on a vintage brush? Say I was going to an estate/garage sale and there were quite a few brushes. How do I know if it's badger/boar/horse/synthetic?
That's a tough call as there are so many variations to be found 'out in the wild.' Badgers tend to be softer, while boar tends to be coarser. How's that for being vague and non-specific? Perhaps someone with greater brush knowledge (Gary? Tom?) will chime in and offer some pointers.
