My wife, the antique queen, found me some nice looking brushes today. Three of them have no label. There may be a Simpson's shield logo on the butterscotch one third form the left-it has very nice heft. The Trumper's is very nice. Anybody have any ideas/thoughts on what those first three brushes may be? The guy she got these from also had old Aramis shave soaps with Tallow.
I like them all. Nice haul. The two in the center look like Kent brushes to me. No idea on the left one, but I like it.
The two Kent brushes may be a V7 or VF-5 and V10 depending upon the sizes. I have recently restored a VF-5 so I have done some research into the handles. Geo. Trumpers resembles a Simpsons but Gary Young reported that they were not making the current line on another forum some time back. Older brushes were made by Simpsons. Here is the current line. http://www.trumpers.com/product_detail.cfm?ProductID=111547788 The last one might be German made it resembles other German made brushes. She did a good job for you.
"GREAT" scores your a lucky man!!!....It's too bad brush makers don't brand or inscribe the brush handles in someway rather than just paint their logo's on them.
I'll post a pic of them when restored, along with the multiple previous ones that Rudy Vey has restored for me. I can't stop collecting these, or any other shave related item. It is a disease.
IMO the brush on the far right in the top picture is a vintage Simpson. The only reason I say that is because the lettering is stamped crooked on it like you see on many vintage brushes. You sit have a amazing wife, those Kent's in the first picture are very nice. The Crabtree and Evelyn brush looks like a Vulfix to me. All are very nice scores.
