Well. Some of us are heard or used some bulgarian shaving creams. They are many - Каро (Karo), Viking, Купа (Kupa), Compass, etc.. But as native bulgarian man, who love the shaving history in my country, I want to introduce some of already discontinued stuff, which can be interesting for the community here. They were produced from 70s to 90s, during USSR era. Back then, Bulgaria was major exporter and producer of cosmetic products for all soviet countries, mainly for Ukraine, Russia and Belarus.

First is Каро (pronounced Karo in english). This cream, created from specialists in Alen Mak (factory in Plovdiv city), is on the market from 1969 and becomes favorite for many generations men in Bulgaria, and all soviet countries.
The tube was all aluminum like Barbon or Nivea now. The photo below is a tube of after shave cream, but shaving cream was almost the same :

For comparison, the new Каро is in 3 different styles, and now are in plastic tubes :

Whatever, they may differ from local bulgarian market and those, who are for ukrainian and russian market, like these below :

Alen Mak, the company who originally developed this cream doesn`t exist anymore, and all Каро creams are produced from Rubella, another cosmetic company here (along with other popular products make of Alen Mak, like toothpaste etc..). Rubella has their own brand, Top Ten for men.

Aroma, the major competitor of Alen Mak in 70s and 80s, produced few other creams, probably not so popular because of Каро, but they were sold on the market:

    Арома (Aroma in english)

The modern version of this cream is Viking, produced now in both Active and Sensitive version :

Aroma produced also the brands Дунавски вълни (Danubian waves) and Pascale, which are identical as Viking Active and Sensitive variant.

Other discontinued creams which ended their life from beginning of post-soviet era are :

Корсар (Korsar) : (produced from Alen Mak)

    Хоби (Hobby) :

Shaving soap Чайка (Tchaika) - used in barbershops mostly and older generations :

Of course, there was other brands, but I haven`t photos unfortunately..

    Thanks for your attention.
