Hi I got this brush the other day, only just opened it up as it was so tight, when i did there was the dark brown substance as you can see, its like resin to touch hard britle and non sticky, should I try to remove it, if so how? the end cap part I tried hot water with washing up liquid and it pretty much did nothing.
Thanks any help on this would be nice also what is it?

Alpla, if that brush is unused, then it would not be old cream. That may be the glue that binds the knot to the handle. I would leave it alone if it does not cause any issues since it is on the inside of the handle.
