Ranger Tech and Senator/Bic (2). With good prep I did surprisingly well with these. Not bad head shavers at all with a sharp Bic, slight preference for the Senator. IMG_20190417_083347-01.jpg

    Razor: Gillette Diplomat A1
    Brush: WDC6 by @Douglas Carey
    Blade: Super Iridium
    Soap: Tabac
    AS: Tabac

First DE shave in over 2 years.

This did not disappoint me. I found the razor to be on the mild side. But boy did it give me a fine 3 pass shave.

I will need to start throwing in a few DE shaves each month.

Have a great rest of the week.

    Razor 5/6 - Gillette Sheraton 1938 - 1940 variant
    Shave 1/2 - Bic blade

If the first shave is anything to go by this is not the same razor as the 37 - 38 variant. For starters it has a lot more blade feel when shaving. I don't know if I would also call it more aggressive but the after shave vinegar splash sure burned like hell unlike the same with the other Sheraton. If anything I think they just standardized the razor heads on the Sheraton with the Senator when it was introduced in 1938. I'll know formally when I use the Senator next in the progression.

Today I used a gillete old style property if us army. With lord platinum class, second shave on blade. This is a new combo for me. The old style can frequently be aggressive, Either my skills are improving or this combo was near perfect mild-ish combo. Again impressed, DFS. 2 pass with touch ups. one weeper @ acne, very very slight alum feedback at neck (but getting better with that). I’m going to continue to test this combo.

    Standard pre shave :
    Noxema
    Hot shower
    My Uber shave oil

    Soap:
    Tabac

    Post:
    Alum
    Clubman special reserve
    Nivea post balm
    Uber oil (later)

    Razor 5/6 - Gillette Sheraton 1938 - 1940 variant
    Shave 2/2 - Ladas blade

Shave wasn't as harsh and not as close nor as painful afterwards as the Bic but still a closer shave than all the Aristocrats. The shave with the Bic left my face tender, it was painful to the touch for hours afterwards and still stung when I washed my face today. What I think the issue is this razor is just not that efficient and tugs too much on the hair is what makes it overly aggressive. It is not an issue of too much blade and bloodbath shaves.

    Last razor up next.

The more I use the RFB, the more I'm liking it. And using an unobtanium AS, TSD's very own Bourbon & Vanilla.

You might give Armani Privé Ambre Eccentrico a sniff if you like Bourbon & Vanilla
