Here is a review on a very nice Italian soft soap which I recently received from a great friend of mine here: Ease of lathering: 10/10--So much lather in so little time! Longevity of lather: 10/10--Stable and very long-lasting. General skincare: 8/10--Good. No irritation or razor burn. Skin feels good afterwards. Scent: 8/10--Very similar to Cella. Bitter almond type, but milder than Cella. Price: N/A--I don't have a clue about the price. Would I buy again: 9/10--Yes, I think so. I like it a lot. Italy is well-known for making excellent soft soaps, and this is one of them. It's very easy to lather up with, smells nice, and leaves the skin feeling moisturized and well-defended against irritation or other problems.
I love Italian soaps and I've been wondering about Vitos so I really appreciate the review, Jeff. Good man!
$26 per kilogram. That's....one heck of a deal! But that would be a 10 year supply for me....and I have oh so many soaps to go through still! It's been on my short list for a little while though, might have to give it a try.
I have been thinking about seeing if anyone would want to go in together and purchase the Vitos soap to try. A kilo would be a waste for me, I like variety in my soaps, not quantity. If 5 or even 10 of us went in to buy a kilo, it would be plenty to last me. 100 grams is still a lot of soap, especially just to sample, and wouldn't cost that much.
I agree completely with Jeff's review. I got a small sample included with my last order of shaving equipment, and found it to be a very good shave soap. It lasted a surprisingly long time and just a little bit made a lot of lather. The almond scent is really nice IMHO, and I can't wait to try the one with coconut oil added. AnB Daddy, if you want a smaller size than the 1 kg, Shoebox Shaveshop sells 2.5 ounce chunks of all three types for $5.99, now on sale for $4.99.
I myself use Vito's Coconut and Almond, and agree 100% in what Jeff is saying about the soap it's a great performer, IMO it's as good as Mitchells Woolfat, but I do live in a soft water area and these soaps do love thier soft water, on the other hand if you live in a hard water area most people steer clear of these soaps. Jamie.
I also agree. I live quite close to Jamie......so the water supply is probably the same. With regard to Tony's comment about the size of the block. Many pucks of soap come close to the price of 1 kg of Vitos. I cut off chunks and distribute them to friends and family as part of a starter pack for wet shaving......so even if I dont use it all myself.......it is still great value for money. Another bonus. I find the Vitos soap to be less irritating to my skin than either Cella or P160.
Vitos coconut arrived yesterday, shaved with it this morning. Very rich creamy lather, wonderful moisturising and a really nice shave!
I just used a Vitos Chill aftershave(sample) and loved it, Extreme Chill!! and Mint scent. Has anyone here tried their Pre/Post Cream, How much Menthol does it have?
I know you don't need telling crackstar, but I just love your reviews. Gonna buy a kilo of the coconut/almond block by Vitos. At only €17 it's a bargain and a half. Can't wait to use it with my new horsehair Vie-Long brush. Just got it from Valencia today. I am not even going to attempt to review it though...too hard. I will try to review the soap when it arrives though.
