To be fair, I have only had the brush for a few days and it is far from broken in. It still smells like the south end of a northbound badger-pig hybrid. But even with the stench of a new and unbroken in brush, I have absolutely no problem creating lather that is simply perfect. I'm using SC up to this point but I have little doubt that this brush would facilitate amazing lather from soap as well. The loft seems a little low but so far that hasn't impeded the brush from making me absolutely pleased with my purchase. The handle is great. A nice solid and well balanced handle accompanies the blend of boar and bristle knot. So far, I have to say that it is a bit weird but hearing from others who have this, and also love it, that this is just a part of the break in process of this brush. I already like it a lot which makes me almost impatient to see how good this thing is going to get. Potential favorite!
I can't believe I've had this brush for about a year and still haven't gotten around to reviewing it, besides a few remarks in the forums. So, let me just quote my most recent: Very nice quality brush, my first, and so far only, Vulfix brush, and it hasn't disappointed. It's not not super dense, but not floppy. It does seem to be on the smallish side, but not in a detrimental way. About balance: I kinda judged this from several perspectives and took an average - balance of the handle in you hand, superb. Feels great, great material, great quality, great design. Kinda heavy, and a little on the bigger side - biggest handle of all my brushes, in fact, which doesn't bother me, my hands pretty big, so it feels right to me. In fact, this could be the factor that makes the knot seem so much smaller, that in comparison to the handle, it seems dwarfed. When I compare it to my other brushes, it is indeed smaller, but not so significantly smaller that it seemed before. So I ranked "visual balance" low. Luxury factor right now is pretty good, not near the level of my silvertip, but getting there more as the boar bristles break in. Ease of lather - couldn't be easier. Set the brush next to your soap, it lathers on it's own, instantly. It's like if Chuck Norris was a badger/boar blend brush. Seriously. Got an unruly puck of Williams layin' around? Show it who's boss with this rascal. And the price, while higher than when I first heard about the brush, is still very reasonable, particularly for a Vulfix.
This brush is an exceptional value. A nice heavy handle not usually found on brushes in this price range. The knot is not very dense, but it seems to work well with the boar / badger combo. The boar does take awhile to properly break in. It lathers soaps and creams with ease. This brush is a worthy addition to any shave den.
