Ok, it's been awhile since I've posted any razor resto's up. So, here we go. This Wade and Butcher has a brass spine and etching on the blade (hard to see in photos) I tried hard to preserve it, but it's still there... look hard. Scales are Olive, brass spacer, pins. Here's the Photos:
that is a work of fine art! gotta love how everything goes together to create a work of art that can be used everyday.
Keep trying ,you will eventually get there with some more practice Just kidding , the word stunner comes to mind Kind regards Peter
While it does look really nice, I'm curious about that brass top strip. Does that part rest on the hone? Seems like it would hone away much too quickly. One picture seems to hint that there's a steel part that is wider, but it's hard to be sure.
The brass spine is fully exposed.... so I taped it before honing. It took an edge very fast with minimal passes on the hones, stropped up and will be put to the test today... I think..... trying to shake off the swing shift zombies before I try shaving. Will report later if I survive.
Verrrry interesting... the one pic that shows it end-on from the spacer end gives somewhat the appearance that the brass was added later, crimped around the top to give a frameback appearance. Just hard to imagine that W&B would make one that way, as it would obviously wear quickly with honing (they didn't have electrical tape then). Still, a beautiful razor!
Oh! OH! OH!!! I love everything about it. THe scales are terrrrrrific! It flows so well with the frameback... What a great thing to experience in hand....I BET
Wow - amazing. May i come in apprenticeship? Whenever i see such perfect jobs... i know, there is so much i have to learn, but there is so less time....
I am still drooling over this wood , I love the way you matched the scales perfectly as well :happy096
