Hey guys, just started using a double edged razor and want to get my Dad one (along with a second for myself). I was hoping to find some inexpensive ones with the butterfly top so it is very easy to load. I can't spend incredible amounts, but am willing to do some cleaning if needed. It'd be awesome if I could possibly get an old Gillette or something like that, but I could make do with anything. I just want to get him something nice, and then I would love a secondary one for myself. If anyone has multiples, combined sales would be great! I can pay via PayPal or any other means, but would prefer PayPal for the safety reasons. I am new on this site but can give you my e-Bay page as a reference of my buying experience. Thank you!

    Sincerely,
    Zack.

blanka I will not eat my shaving products. Promise.

I'll look and see what I have stored away. Might have a decent spare 1949 Super Speed. Otherwise, if you want to get him something new and inexpensive, Parker makes decent butterfly style razors.

Thanks! New or old doesn't matter, but it seems like those old Gillette's are worthy of their price and are time tested.

I believe I have a Gillette Red Tip Super Speed and a Gillette Slim, if those interest you.

I don't know too much about them, would they be good for beginners?

    :o I'm not a Razor Enthusiast. I can't answer that question.

Maybe one of the Razor Enthusiasts will come along and help us.

    Neolithium I am Canadian, eh

The slim would be excellent for beginners, the red tip is ok, but a touch more aggressive than the other vintage Gillette options - however it's still not a face shredder.

+1 on that. The red tip "encourages" technique discipline. I wish I'd had one as a starter razor. Gillette marketed them as "heavy" for people with heavier, thicker, or coarser beards.

As for you, Joanna, you've probably forgotten more about razors than I've learned in all my years of wet shaving.

The red tip was my gift to my brother last Christmas, his first DE and he absolutely loves it. If your worried about too aggressive you could try a blue tip. I'd vote for the red though if for no other reason the handle is way better looking LOL:)

I have a Parker 99r razor I would be willing to part ways with. It's a bit on the heavy side, but it's a very decent razor. I've only used it a few times and just don't like the feel of it. Message me with your details and we can talk about price in the meantime.
