Purchasing heating machines for my shaving cream have been frustrating and futile experience. These machines often stop working and or clogs. And we are limited with the type of shaving cream we want to use. Then I decided to use my sterling silver shaving mug (Very good heat conductor), (inexpensive to get on E bay) on top of an electric candle melting device or coffee mug warmer and "Voila!!" the shaving cream becomes perfectly warm within minutes since Silver a a wonderful heat conductor. Now lathering my face is a real luxury. I usually pour the shaving cream on the silver shaving bowl and add the shaving brush then place it on top of the candle warmer (coffee mug warmer), and after I take my shower the shaving cream is nice and warm. David.
I trued to use the scuttle but even when I pour boiling water in the Scuttle and allow the soap to heat up the lather gets cold quite rapidly, perhaps I do not do this procedure correctly. Glad it works for you.
My experience with really hot water is my lather broke down really fast. It's great that it's working for you. That's the fun part about wet shaving, finding things that give you a luxury shave.
I use a scuttle. The hot water out of the tap is 148F...hot enough for warm lather but not too hot that it breaks down the lather. I enjoy using my Semogue badgers with cream and a scuttle. I use a brush scuttle with boars/hard/soft soaps. A nice shaving experience.
Howdy! I had one of those shave cream can warm lather machines a few years ago; however, there were problems with it so I ended up just tossing it into the trash can. I use a scuttle now and get all the warm lather I need. It takes a bit of work, but a shave should never be rushed, in my view. Always, Gene
