What alcohol is compatible with colognes/aftershave?

Just obtained a 60% full bottle of a vintage cologne. It's reportedly rather strong so want to top off the bottle with an alcohol that would not "off" the smell (if it's that strong to begin with, a loss of strength from being topped off wouldn't be a bad thing...worst case, it ends up closer to a/s which I'd prefer anyway).

What alcohol should I look for? Might I be able to get it locally? If so, where to look? Thanks for any input.

Perfumer's alcohol is probably your best bet.

Had a half full bottle of Avon laying around and topped it off with store brand 91%. The alcohol vapor is strong for about ten seconds, then dissipates. The a/s smells like it normally does...a little bit weaker, understandably, but no off odor at all.

I just bought a bottle of everclear (180 proof 91% alcohol) to start playing with diy aftershave and cologne

Thanks to college kids, I'm in one of the states where it's not sold.

Perfumer's alcohol is probably best, but you would have to order that. If you want something you can buy in a store, 91% isopropyl alcohol is your best choice.
