Just wanted to vent, and hope to share.

Over the past month a family, not living on our street, unknown where, has been walking their dog, and letting it poop in our yard. This was going on for several weeks, a few times a week. Right in front of our mailbox. I knew who did it, because a couple of times I caught them walking away from my house, right after a deposit. I then put up a camera, and it immediately stopped.
Well, today I walk out to move a car and there it was in th neighbors yard, doing its business. The owner yanked the dog back and walked off, around the corner. I caught up to them and told them they were busted. Of course they denied it, even after They saw me as their dog was doing it.
    There, I feel better.

many folks will do anything not to have to pick up that warm steaming pile with a thin plastic baggie..:D..at least you confronted them..:):eatdrink047:

I’m always amazed at people who won’t pick up after their dog in their own yard.

Ask the cops to speak to them about littering. If they're not utter scum, it should make the point.

In our area, if caught on camera, it can earn them a $500 fine.

It's considered a potential infectious bio-hazard. Nothing to say nasty.

Years ago my neighbor's kids were flinging their cat crap in our yard. I picked up with a shovel and tossed it in their gutters. The kids got chewed out real good. Nothing like smelling cat poo and not knowing where it is.

Not long ago, while looking out the front window, I saw a person leave her dog’s poop on my lawn. I rushed to the door with a poop bag and called after her, “Hey! Come and get this bag and pick up your dog’s poop!” The young woman was clearly flustered at being caught. I haven’t seen her again.

@DaltonGang, I see what you did there with the title of the thread. Can we open it up to peeves other than pets? I have a few :D

    Ok, here’s one…

Brick and mortar retailers (let’s call them “Petco”) that ask for a charitable donation on the computerized credit card reader, requiring me to intentionally click not now, which makes me feel like an uncaring s.o.b. when paying by credit card or Apple Pay. I suggest that if Petco wants to support the charity with some of the profits they make on my repeat business, that’s fine, but please don’t ask for a handout with every sale.

How about the fast food places like McDonald's, Taco Bell, Subway, etc etc etc, that ask if you want to electronically tip. All while the person is watching, and before your food is made. If I order standing up, and nobody waits on me, no tip.

My thoughts are similar ..... if the silverware is metal, I tip. If not, no tip.

Add to this electronic tipping that starts at ridiculously high percentages.

I heard a long time ago, "If you can't afford to tip, you can't afford to eat out."
20%, rounded up to the next dollar.
But I generally do not put tips into tip jars or cups. I hate the begging!

True enough. And I have no problem with 20% for dinner at a half decent restaurant. But, 18 to 20% on takeout at my local Asian restaurant for lunch is asking too much.

Another reason for me to stick with normal tipping. I have a "tip sheet" in my wallet. That's all I need. None of this "Gee, how is THIS going to work" stuff. I prefer going with what's worked for generations.

My pet peeves are in G.O.D. what I call the Good Old Days, products were made to last, people could have point, and counter point discussions, without name calling. People had loyalty to jobs, employers treated employee like family. People were not pigs throwing trash in streets, dumping auto ashtray in the street. Kids respected elders. people were lawful ,and respected police & fire personal. Could go on longer but think I made my point.

I’ve got a pet peeve that occurs around this time of year. It is when Christmas-related items are re-done in blue & marketed as Chanuka items. Chanuka is NOT a “Jewish Christmas”. It’s another holiday that happens to occur around the same time of year, and has its own imagery, music, customs, etc.

I agree ..... though I think a lot of the change stems from the lack of accountability and people fearing to stand up to the big mouth minority (nothing to do with race). All I ask is to act respectful to all; and if you have issues with how you were put together, leave them at home ..... I don't care. I shouldn't be amazed, but I still am surprised how people have became so entitled, unwilling to work, lack any shame or self-control, should be willing to discipline children and withhold their access to cellphone and internet.

In my home, I watch 0% prime time tv, only tv from 30+ years ago. Usually (three to four nights of the week we're listening to records or watching vintage movies. We enjoy each other's company and often play games. My employer is amazed that I take ownership to my position and look for ways to save the organization money in my department. I figure my reputation and character is impacted by how much I care about my work. As building maintenance for a non-profit; I often purchase tools I believe would be helpful to my department and donate them to the organization.

I instructed my boys to take the take on the most undesirable position in an organization and own it! Know it completely and make it successful. A good employer sees you make trash in to treasure, they'll give you more responsibility.

I'll pass the soap box on to the next person.

    :)

Maybe I'm just an old curmudgeon but when folks use "whatever" - "whatnot" - "ya know" , it just drives me nuts
