With back-to-back upcoming theme weeks of "shaving cream week" and "pick a country week," I am wondering if there's a Greek shave cream brand I might want to pick up for that two week journey. Any suggestions?
Gea sou file mou! (Greek for Hi, my friend! I'll be more than happy to help you on that one because when I left Israel, I lived in Greece for a while before moving to Canada. Greece doesn't produce too, too many shaving creams or soaps any more but there are still several brands. Here are the ones I know: 1) Kolynos (there is also a toothpaste with that name) 2) Prosar (nothing to do with Proraso) 3) Adelco 4) Beau Mec 5) Froika There was also a shaving soap in powder form called Splendit which the barbershops used. I was using it for a while, but it wasn't so easy to lather up properly unless you knew what you were doing and because it was in powder form, it could give you a sneezing fit! Greece for the most part now imports a lot of creams and soaps from Italy and Germany. Hope this helps!
Σας ευχαριστούμε πάρα πολύ, ο φίλος μου (Thank you very much, my friend). . . assuming the online translator didn't produce gibberish.
*Contemplates "cheating" with a Greco-Roman theme, rather than straight up Greek* I suppose that means I'll have to choose another origin country. Germany, here I come.
Germany is a gold mine of creams and soaps. Just in case you need some examples, here are some which I like very much: Soaps: 1) Tabac (stick or bowl) 2) Golddachs-Spezial 3) Irisch Moos (stick) 4) Dr Dittmar 5) Speick stick 6) Calani Cadre Noir (an artisan soap, and awesome) Creams: 1) Florena 2) Speick 3) Cerrus (unfortunately discontinued) 3) Alando (very cheap and good) 4) Logona Mann 5) Kappus Nautik 6) Kappus Men Active
Speick cream and aftershave en route, along with a 5-pack of (Italian, but made in Germany) Bolzano to go in my Merkur. Danke schoen.
I could always beg one of our many world travelers to pick up some Froika for me on his/her next sojourn to the Hellenes.
