Was looking for a toy shave kit for my grandson when I came across this... I guess you're really paying for the 16-page book. "And don’t forget the 16-page storybook, whose pages are all laminated to stand up to the soaping and splashing they’ll surely endure from multiple readings (and shavings)!" (yep, check that price again!)
I was going to say... Why not just take a cheap DE and Loctite the barrel? Might be too young for that though. Just a thought.
Actually a small, cheap DE (like a Weishi) and a small travel brush would make a much nicer "play shave" set, at a modest cost. The prices on that set are just nuts!
Wow! My first thought was the same as Sara-s, just give them a cheapo with no blade and a cheapo brush. At least the toy kit had a brush and bowl instead of a can!
It is kind of cute, but I don't know.... I think I would have appreciated a "real" one better when I was a kid, but that all depends on his age. You might not want to give him a metal razor depending on his age.
My sons are 6 and 8 years old. They love to play shave with me so I found some great vintage Gillettes from members here ($24 shipped). The Omega boars were $5 each at soapbox shaver. It made their Christmas. I just hide all my blades up high in case they decide to "shave" without me.
One idea might be to track down a bakelite (sp?) razor, then no "ouchies" if he drops it on his foot.
maybe this really isn't a play shave thing...that might be a code name for some Covert intelligence contact....they know no one would pay that for a toy shaver.....
Actually I was looking just for the fun of it after seeing iambatman's avatar. I do plan on letting him use one of my brushes and a razor, sans blade, of course. My grandson will be three this summer.
OH COME ON!!!!!!!!!! What bothers(scares) me isn't that someone is trying to sell nothing for a "WHOLE LOT of MONEY"!! What bothers me is that some people bought them.
