just what the title says. I'm thinking really weird: shapes, materials, etc. I've though about trying to have a brush made from an old bari saxophone mouthpiece, but I think the bore is too small for any decent knot (I prefer bigger knots personally!) Tell me what you've seen (or made). Pictures are highly encouraged!!
Several of us have made brushes out of bottle caps. Here is mine. http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/bottle-cap-revisited.31278/
This little brush was made with the lid from a Cholula bottle. I called it Cholula Cepillo Jabalí (Cholula Boar Brush). It is kind of a Mexican Wee Scot. I later modified the brush with another cap that I painted and sealed.
A very used brush with hooks hanging around the handle ! Sold in a crazy price,i found it in ebay couple of years ego.
I would be quite unique if one could make a knot of their own hair, though I think it wouldn't have enough backbone.
I have been thinking of making one out of a Q ball. I once made a Q ball stick shift knob for my old corvette and it might be pretty cool to have one that's a shaving brush. Here is my WD HMW 22mm on a Yucca handle. As you can see the fibers swell when wet and make the handle a bit grippy.
Apart from boar, badger, horse and goat - are there any other commercially available hair/bristle options?
That one came in a neat little coffin package. I believe it was a prototype one of a kind and was being sold on Etsy if memory serves me right.
Great brush. Love the rugged outdoorsy look. 22mm badger, Best, I believe. Glen does fantastic work. For those whose don't know, Glen is gssixgun here at TSD. See his site www.gemstarcustoms.com
