Apparently it's a 6/8's spike point NOS WonderEdge, and it's proving to be very illusive. I came close about six months ago, found one on a BIN. By the time I read the description and mashed the BIN button it was already gone. The quest continues...Call me Ishmael...
I managed to harpoon one of these bad boys…a jumbo Wostenholm IXL. I've been looking for an 8/8 blade straight razor, either a Wade & Butcher or similar vintage maker for sometime and regrettably the ones that do pop up on ebay sell for truly stratospheric prices! I found this one yesterday afternoon at an antique store and walked out with it for about $22. ONE white whale down…many more to go!
I don't know what kind of mojo was at work, but less than a week after posting in this thread, I found my dream Duck. Not the WonderEdge, but it will certainly ease the pain of not having found a WonderEdge. I'll post pics when it arrives later this next week. Rarely have I been this excited to receive a new razor!
This is my favorite Mug. The bidding on the bay goes insane for these. The black ones usually go cheaper. Good luck!
Ok I just thought I was done. Just one more razor! (This one got away) THE RAZOR IS A GOLD OPEN COMB GILLETTE - #164 REVERSE STUD GOODWILL DATE - 1931 - THE ONLY YEAR THIS MODEL WAS MADE
I saw that one. It is a rare beauty my friend. Glad to see it went to a loving home. Be sure to report on her maiden voyage.
Since I had just landed the toggle I showed restraint and did not pull the trigger on this beauty. The bidding was a little crazy, so I will search for another.
