1987 H-2 Super Adjustable Black Beauty I am yet to find one for sale at any price and I think it's due to the fact that it's one of the last DE razors made so people didn't see any value in them and started tossing them when the cartridge race took over. There most likely isn't that big of a market for them either because my age group isn't embracing wet shaving.
This just went on my must have list. Damn you all! I came here less than a month ago angry at my Fusion Proglide and now I am racking up razors faster than I can use them all. Plus every time I think I'm happy I see something like this or the gold tone Aristocrats and I decide that one more razor really isn't that bad.
once the razor addiction eases up the brush addiction kicks in then the soap then the creams then the after shaves then the additives by that time your old reliables seem run of the mill, and razor addiction starts again. so enjoy the ride.
Thanks! I was lucky to get it. It shaves great, but I will now only bring it out on special occasions.
Gillette NEW Richwood. My barber I go to sometimes has one that she won't sell me, it was her grandpa's from the 30s. It has the original wood case, is in perfect condition. No plate loss. http://www.mr-razor.com/Rasierer/The NEW/1930s Richwood No81 gold.JPG Aaaannd a #59 Gillette HD 500 Rocket. They are just stunning. Number 7 I'm below pic. And also my birth year razor, D3 Black Beauty.
I hope to find one soon. The problem is that when they come up the local antiques guys think they are worth about 3 times what they actually are. Heaven forbid they find a Fatboy, either.
Update: was able to harpoon my white whale (see my opening post in this thread from February...) - a Rubberset 400-3 - this week. Eagerly awaiting it's arrival next week and have it re-knotted, etc
I just got an olive wood handle and I'm sizing it up for a Silvertip from WD. Good luck on your choice.
Thanks. I'm assuming these are in your local shops. I appreciate the thought, but not sure what good it would do me here in Virginia, lol.
