My girlfriend has taken a liking to making soaps via the cold process. So far she's made some Honey Almond Oat that looks and smells great along with some Lavender scented bars. I'm telling you, I almost want to eat the stuff. :drool

I'd like to get her some more EOs to work with. She's mentioned Patchouli (sp?) and Peppermint as what she'd like to have next. Where is the best place to get them? I know some of you make soap so thought I'd ask here first before asking Google.

On a side note, she found this message board that is exactly like the shave boards except they call the pictures of their soaps "Soap Porn". The first day she posted she had about 20 replies welcoming her. I wonder how many other niche hobbies out there have boars just like ours?

Any Whole Foods stores carry EO's and any soap making supply website will have EO's.

You can also find some EOs at local health food stores, though the amount might be too small for a larger scale operation. For tester batches though it would be a slightly more inexpensive way to go!

EOs are cheaper online, and I would suggest going with a reputable website, such as the first 4 links provided.

Yeah, sort of. Honesty is another issue. Terminology on some sites is confusing or just downright misleading. The reputable sites are going to be clear on whether an oil is an Essential or a Fragrance.

I guess the people I buy EO's from are not reputable businesses...I could have swear they were good people...but what do I know:confused:

Who'd you buy your EOs from?

I never said those 4 links were the only reputable sites.

+1, another benefit of buying in person is that you can sniff before you buy. Could always make future purchases online.

As soon as I saw this I decided to find a Whole Foods. I messed around last week and didn't order anything online.

SWMBO decided on an EO brand called Now that was about 2 dollars cheapr than the other selections. Anyone ever hear of this stuff? We got three 1 oz bottles for about $15.

I also picked up a sixer of Pumpkin Ale to get the Halloween spirit :D

I have used quite a few of the "Now" products, including but not limited to their vegetable glycerin, their grapeseed oil, shea butter, avocado oil, apricot oil, and almond oil. Have been completely satisfied with all of them (with the exception of the shea butter, which was clumpy and hard to use). On the whole though, Good stuff.

Which pumpkin ale did you get :drool

Don't miss out on the Dogfish Head Punkin' Ale

    Thanks for the info.

I got Buffalo Bill's Brewery Pumpkin Ale. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it tasted. After about 1.5 it started tasting a bit to sweet but those first two were great!
