Lol my liver thanks me ive slowed down but still enjoy knocking a few back...which beer is the ultimate ymmv ... Depends on your mood, the weather, the venue, the food, your wallet ... So many options - nothing like a bud at a ball game or double barrel ipa at the bbq or a modelo at the beach

I love hops so my beers all have a great hoppy taste. Craft beers made in smaller batches tend to be best

I suppose my favorite would fall off the color chart...

Any fans of VE (vertical epic) ale from Stone brewery? My favorite was the 2004...Still have about 6 bottles of it.

In this recent heat wave, I couldn't enjoy my typical porters and brown ales as much as usual, opting instead for the lighter scotch ales and ESBs. Some of the latter would even be likely to fit on the above color chart.

In these hot conditions I like my Hoegaarden (a 'white' beer, with a slice of lemon). Really refreshing! hoegaarden.jpg

Erik Redd Lizabeth, baby, I'm comin' to join ya.

I've always liked flemish sour beers or lambics, but they are incredibly overpriced in the US. I haven't found a craft brewer that makes anything comparable, they all seem to be making IPA's

IPA: India Pale Ale, although, to my tastes (and by my understanding of the brewing process), they share more in common with a lager than an ale.

Mike, if you like Hoegaarden, you might see if you can find some Grey Lady Ale at a craft brew store or similar. They compare very well, with Grey Lady having a wee bit more body.

Since you're in Europe, you should probably stick with Hoegaarden, or any of the other fine Belgian beers available. Many of the craft brewers in the US are trying to mimic Belgian beers, but I think they are a poor substitute. The Belgian beers are becoming very popular in the US, and are unfortunately getting expensive.

30 years ago I lived in Belgium for a couple of years on assignment for a US company. A draft beer in a cafe was about the equivalent of 35 cents, I was in beer hog heaven.

See, now I look a that and see: diabetic urine color, ketotic urine color, kidney dysfunction color, and to me, it all tastes, well, like.... you get the idea. ;) But, then again, I never did like beer.
