Which knot should you use? I always use a bowline knot because it never over-tightens and it never slips. My vote goes to the Tux.
Inspired by @gwsmallwood I went to the Etsy seller (Wild West Brushworks) to commission a custom handle for myself. The guy that makes the handles (Derek) has been a pleasure to deal with. Pics oce he has made my handle for me.
How deep does Derek drill the handle for the knot? I see he drills for 24mm. Does that mean it is meant for a 22mm knot?
He said he drills to 17mm for silvertips. I am not sure what depth he uses for other knots, but you can message him on his etsy site.
Means 24mm diameter hole for 22mm knot. Knots are generally 2mm less in diameter than the hole diameter. The depth will affect the knot's backbone. If he drills for a 24mm knot, the hole will be 26mm in diameter.
Beautiful in either, but I prefer the cashmere. That's my favorite handle shape -- one vendor called it "gourd." Did he make that one special for you or was it already in his inventory (I went to his site after reading your post).
I sent him a couple of examples and asked for that one. He has since made a few more in that shape, so I guess he likes it too.
I usually prefer the look of the tuxedo but in that handle i say cash Sent from my Z936L using Tapatalk
